Hi I'm Doug

I'm a father of four. I'm a motorcycle enthusiast. I'm retail executive. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm a father of two boys and two girls. I have been married to a wonderful and amazing woman for more than 25 years. I love spending time with family. I enjoy watching and participating in many sports-especially baseball, football, basketball, and golf. I am a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, the Dallas Mavericks, and The University of Utah and Virginia Tech college football teams. I am a motorcycle fanatic. I ride a Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, and have two dirt bikes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a strong Mormon family. Two brothers from Scotland joined the church in the late 1800's and migrated to the United States with the rest of their family. They were among the early pioneers that crossed the plains into the Utah Valley. I take great pride in the sacrificies and committment they made to bring the gospel into their lives and future generations that followed. I didn't always have a testimony of the gospel. Being born into an active family, going to church was just something you did. It wasn't until the summer I was 18 that I really took it upon myself to find out for myself whether it was true. After many years of being outwardly active, I finally took inventory of who I was and what I personally believed. After an intense few months of reading, studying, and praying, I had a personal witness of the truthfulness of this gospel. I have been active ever since that summer. I now faithfully raise my kids in the gospel. The world has so much negative influence working against today's youth. The Mormon church has an amazing youth program that gives them the structure and the spirtiual weapons they need to shield them against the influences working against them. I can't imagine raising my kids without the influence of Jesus Christ and his teachings as taught throughout the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing what I can to help others, especially youth. I was a Scout Master for 5 years, helping 14 young men become Eagle Scouts. I have taught our faith to kids of all ages and even worked in our child nursery. i am a hometeacher, which means I have several family's that I visit each month. With a companion, we provide a message at each visit and look after them, by supporting them in times of need.
