Hi I'm Becky

I'm a quilter and a gardener. I'm a mother of 4 and an advocate for a daughter with special needs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I spent 4 years in college studying retailing and business management. After I married and started a family I opened a children's clothing store. When my youngest daughter was born she had a developmental disability and my life changed drastically. We closed the store and focused on our family and helping our daughter. Her youngest years were filled with hospitals, doctors and therapy appointments. We worked hard to keep a good balance in our family with all our children. When our daughter started school I realized that I could make a difference by helping the other children and the professionals understand and appreciate children with special needs. My work expanded from the schools to my community and then I began working with other mothers around my state. My children are grown with families of their own now except for our youngest daughter who is still at home with us. Now I fill my spare time with gardening and qulting. I enjoy sharing the results of these endevors with those I love. Looking back I realize what a blessing our daughter has been in our lives. She has taught us things that we could have learned in no other way.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been members of the church for six generations. The sacrifices for the gospel made by my ancestors strengthens me and gives me courage to face the challenges in my own life. I'm grateful for the eternal perspective I get from studying the gospel. Knowing that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me and is aware of my struggles helps me focus on what is most important. Living the gospel brings happiness and fulfullment to my life. I'm a Mormon because the gospel of Jesus Christ teaches me that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and that if I follow that plan I can live with my family in His presence again. The atonement of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ makes all things possible.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by being happy. I have a wonderful life with many blessings. Teaching music to children at church is delightful. Their love for the Savior as they sing about Him and His teachings inspires me. I love the scriptures. We are so blessed to be able to study the gospel in depth. I look forward to study time each day and always feel like there is so much more to learn. The people in my congregation are kind and loving. They are accepting of our daughter with special needs and try to help our family in any way they can. I enjoy helping others in my community, congregation and family. As we serve one another we learn to love each other and be more like our Savior.
