Hi I'm Rusty Petty

I grew up in central Indiana. I am a husband, a father, a son, and I know that I AM A CHILD OF GOD!

About Me

I love to spend time with my family. I have the most beautiful wife, and we have been sealed to each other for time and all eternity. We have been married for three years, and are the proud parents of three beautiful girls. They help us smile, laugh, cry, become frustrated, pray harder, love more, and live happier than we ever thought possible. I enjoy golfing, but with three girls under two life is sometimes too busy to get the chance to go. I am a huge fan of the university of Notre Dame. And being a Latter-Saint I sometimes catch some grief for this :) but thats ok I will always "cheer, cheer for ol Notre Dame." I am a supervisor at an ethanol plant, and I enjoy being able to try and make this nation and world a better cleaner place to live. I am a normal father and have the same fears that most do living in the world today. I know GOD loves me beacuse he is always there when I need him.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a small town where you did whatever it was your parents did. If they farmed usually you farmed. If they worked in a factory usually you worked in a factory. If they drank usually you drank. Growing up like this makes changing the order of things a very hard thing to do. In high school I found that I could avoid situations or events by drinking or other mind altering things. This is how most dealt with life, but I alwasys knew that something greater was out there for me. I just didnt know where to look. My best friend grew up LDS. We being the only two "church goers" in our group of friends would talk about GOD and what we believed. I just never really truly listned to what he was telling me. He served a full time mission and while in the training center sent me A Book of Mormon. I thought this is his job, but I have always grown up Catholic and that will not change. Being as close as we were I would visit his family. In April of 2003 his mother passed, and he decided to stay and preach the gospel. I thought he was being selfish, because he was serving in a very beautiful place. Then he told me that all answers were in that book and if I truly asked GOD would give me answers. One night in May of 03, that book sat on my dresser and stared at me like nothing I had ever seen before. So picked it up, read what he gave me to read, and then did as the book said. To pray to GOD and he would tell me if the book was true. He did, and I followed his counsel. I was baptized in June of 03. In November of 2005 I left for a mission. On this mission I learned even more how much love GOD has for me. I seen people with bad addictions, tough family situations, do all they could to become members of this church. This taught me that through GOD, and because of JESUS CHRIST all things are possible. GOD can and will lead all those who truly want his guidance.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to always see the brighter side of things. Life is hard for a lot of people right now, and for a lot more than that it is harder than what I could ever imagine. I try to show my daughters that they can pray to GOD and he is ready and willing to listen to what ever they have to say. If you want to invite the spirit in your home, have a two year old girl give the prayer. I am a terrible singer, but I love to sing church songs with my family, but dont worry my wife sings like an angel so that balances out the house. I enjoy talking about what I believe with my co workers. When you work for 12 hours with someone you tend to have time to find out almost everything about them. Currently I help organize church events at a little branch of the church where I attend. Before that I taught the youth. That was so much fun. The youth today face so many struggles that there is not enough room here to scratch the surface, but like any other person on Earth today they can have the HOLY SPIRIT with them to guide them through lifes stormy times.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Rusty Petty
You can find out just as I did, you can pray to GOD and he will tell you what is right. At the end of the Book of Mormon Moroni 10:4-5 it tells us that if want to know if this book is true then we need to ask GOD and he will tell you. I echo that in telling you, that GOD loves you more than what you may know, and that if you ask him he will tell you through the guidance of the HOLY GHOST. He did me, and I promise that he will you to. Show more Show less
