Hi I'm Derek

I love sports. I'm attending pharmacy school. I'm going to be a Dad. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for 3 years and I am soon to be a new dad. I love playing and watching sports. Anything from golf to football. I love to go hiking and camping. I enjoy talking pictures of great scenery. I am currently going to pharmacy school to become a pharmacist. I have lived in many different places and enjoy meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member for my entire life. I grew up learning about the teachings of the church but it wasn't until I prayed for myself that I really knew they were true. It was a time when I felt very lonely and needed strength. I remembered all that was taught to me as a kid and wanted to believe that it was true. That Christ could know what I was going through and could give me strength and direction to do what was right. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray to my Father in Heaven. As I did the Holy Ghost would testify to me that the words written in the Book of Mormon were true. Those words gave me strength each day to do what was right. It also compelled me to become better. To become more like Christ. As I prayed I started to know my Father and Christ in a more personal way and when times got hard I could always come to them in prayer and receive strength and direction. By the time I finished reading the Book of Mormon I knew it was of God because it made me want to become like Christ and be better. I knew then that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that God had put his church on the earth again to help all men find peace and strength.

How I live my faith

I believe a disciple of Christ is one who reaches out and helps those in need around them in a physical and spiritual way. To do this I visit families in my church to teach and help them in anyway. I believe it is important to help all people and not just people of our own church and participate in community service projects to help all those in need. I am learning to become a pharmacist so that I can have the knowledge to serve those in my community to become healthy physically, mentally and spiritually. I love to play sports with others to help others have a good time and feel like they belong.
