Hi I'm Evan

I am a proud husband, father, educator, writer, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a full time student, full time employee, full time dad, and full time husband. Things are busy for my little family! I am studying elementary education, with the hopes of inspiring learners in my community to become leaders, and take responsibility for their education and their life. I have a wonderful wife and daughter who inspire me to work hard every day. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all of my life and served as a missionary in Canada.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has answers for the deepest questions of the soul: "Where did we come from? What is the purpose of life? Where do we go when we die?" The doctrine of the church is taught simply, and plainly. It is centered on the Savior, Jesus Christ, and how we can improve ourselves throughout life to become more like Him. By applying His teaching, I experience peace and joy that I can receive nowhere in the entire world.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving every day to be a better person. I am very open about my beliefs and will share it with anyone, not because its easy, but because I know the peace and happiness that comes from living a life centered around the Savior.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

God has always called prophets since the time of Adam. These were men of God and received direct communication through him to lead and guide His children on Earth. Consequently, the world has difficulty following the prophet when one exists in their day. Many prophets were killed and mocked. However, because He loves us, God calls prophets for our direction and guidance in life. There is a prophet on the Earth today; Thomas S. Monson. I know he is a prophet like Moses. An ordinary man, with problems and imperfections of his own, but indeed called of God to once again lead and guide the people on Earth. There is need of a prophet today because the teachings of Moses cannot all "taylor fit" our time. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and that he speaks on His behalf. I encourage you to search him on this website and lds.org. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another testament that Jesus Christ lives. While the Bible was recorded by prophets in the Eastern Hemisphere anciently, the Book of Mormon was written by prophets in the Western Hemisphere anciently. In the New Testament, John records that the Savior said, "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd" (John 10:16). After the Savior was crucified, he rose three day later as a resurrected being. He taught His disciples and showed himself to others. He also visited the people in the American continent at that time. He taught them the same principles that he taught the Jews during his mortal ministry. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I promise that if you pray and ask Heavenly Father if it is true, He will answer your prayer through the feelings that come to your heart. It will change your life forever! Show more Show less

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

The first step in stoping the spread of pornography is in our homes. The home is the center of a child's life. It is the foundation of community. Pornography is dangerous because it is subtle. It is in TV ads, gas stations, music, movies, and the Internet. Teach your children to avoid it, and talk about the dangers of it openly. Do not be afraid to walk out of a movie, to turn the TV off and to shut off the radio. By your example, you are inspiring others to do the same. In a lot of situations, especially those that involve inappropriate scenes, lyrics, or pictures, most will not be comfortable, yet they lie in wait for someone else to make the move to make the tough decision. Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Jesus taught that to enter into His kingdom, one had to be baptized. As Christians, we believe baptism to be essential for spiritual growth during, and after life. So what about the people who have lived on the earth without having had the opportunity to be baptized? I guess they just missed out. Nope! A loving Heavenly Father would not allow that to be true. To give those individuals the same opportunity, we can be baptized on their behalf in LDS temples. They then have the opportunity to accept or deny that. Show more Show less
