Hi I'm Larissa

I am from a small town in Arizona, I love to play the piano, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Larissa, and I live in a small town in Arizona. I am a high school student, but I am also taking college classes and my local community college. I am working to get my associates of business about the time I graduate from High School. After I graduate I plan to go to BYU Idaho. I love to play the piano. In my ward I am called as the ward pianist for the chior. In the spring of 2013 I am going on a trip to tour Europe!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. I was baptized when I was eight years old. I never knew any other way. But I have grown up, and I have seen so many of my friends make different choices, and seen their consequences. I am so thankful everyday that my parents teach me to make righteous decisions. I made new friends and we all help eathother to keep our standards. I have had some people ask me why I am Mormon. At first I feel a little surprised, and then excited to share my reason for happiness. I want everyone in the entire world to feel the peace that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints brings to me each and every day. If there is one reason why I love being a Mormon, it is because it has shown me how much my Father in Heaven loves me. And how much He loves all of His children. We are all His children. And that Jesus Christ knows me, He died for me, and He lives today. Because of Him I am not afraid of death. I can live with my family for all eternity. And THAT is worth everything.

How I live my faith

I am only 17, so I am in the youth program, but that doesn't mean I can't serve in my church. I am sometimes called to help out a young couple in an emergency when they desperately need a babysitter. I am always happy to serve. I have a talent for playing the piano, so I have been called as our ward pianist. I work with a very sweet lady, and, together, we provide the music in some of our meetings. I love music and I believe it has a way of touching your emotions in a way that words can't. I love it when I can bring the spirit into our meetings in that special way. When I go to church every week, I meet with some girls that are around the same age as I am, along with the leaders that are called to teach us. They teach us how to prepare to become a wife and mother. How to raise our future children in the gospel, and how to be a supportive wife. But being a Mormon is much more than Sunday Mornings. It is a lifestyle that I have to choose to live everyday. Being a Mormon gives me so much joy, I want to share it with everyone around me.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Larissa
I live my life just like you. I go to school, work, the grocery store; I go out for a dinner and a movie occasionaly. It can be said that everything we do everyday is in the hope that it will bring us happiness. Well I get happiness from living as a Mormon, and so I do a few things differently everyday because these things bring me happiness. I read and ponder my scriptures and pray every morning. The scriptures teach me gospel principles; they show me great examples of rightous living, and they teach me about the life of Jesus Christ, and they show me how much my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ loves me. I also pray every morning to build my relationship with me Heavenly Father: I ask Him for help with my trials throughout the day, and I share with him my feelings, worries, gratitude, and love. He is always there for me. Another difference is how I spend my Sabbeth day. Every Sunday I attend church and partake of the sacrament. I also do not shop or work on Sunday; it is a day of rest. I spend time with family, and help those family ties grow stronger. I serve my fellow men on a daily basis; Jesus is a great example of service and love for others. I show my love for my fellow men by serving them, as Jesus did. I share the gospel to everyone I come in contatct with. Wether it be by sharing gospel doctrine, or just by being an example, I want to share the happiness that the gospel has given me. Bottom line: I live the gospel becuase the gospel brings me happiness. Show more Show less
