Hi I'm Kate Felt

I live in Tacoma WA, I'm a grad student at Pacific Lutheran University studding Marriage & Family Therapy, & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a grad student working on a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have spent a lot of time working with teenage girls that struggle with a variety or difficulties such as addictions, eating disorders, depression, and self-harm. That is what made interested in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy; I could see the huge influence that the family has on these teenage girls. I have seen the way that overcoming these hardships in their lives has brought a new light into their life, and an amazing vitality into their families, and that is a very beautiful thing to me. I have a great family that is supportive and loving and to be able to help other families have that same kind of tranquility and peace in their homes makes me very happy. Nature and music are two of the most supernal testimonies to me that God is real. I love to sing and listen to good uplifting music. I also love to be in nature it is the best!!! This summer I made a goal to go one at least one good hike per week, and I tell you what it was so fun. I love to be on a trail and feel the power and energy that I can glean from the earth. It makes me sure every time that I hike to the top of a mountain that there has to be a God in heaven that loves us so much he would make a world that is exploding with beauty and vibrancy. That is just one of many things that testify to me that Heavenly Father cherishes His children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the Church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I am a Mormon because over a period of time I have obtained faith in Jesus Christ as our savior and redeemer and that it is only through him that we can be saved. I have a firm testimony of this, I know that Jesus saves, that he suffered for our sins, died for our transgression, and that through his stripes we are healed. I know that he understands our deepest most personal wounds, and that he can heal them. I am a Mormon because we have a prophet of the Lord living on the earth today that leads and guides Christ’s church today. That we have the priesthood (God’s power given to men) conferred upon worthy men of the church which is a blessing to the entire world. I am a Mormon because with God’s power my family to be united forever. That I can be with my parents in this life and in the life to come, that “till death do us part” is not in the contract. Also when I have a family of my own my husband and children will be with me forever and that we can start building the foundations of our love and never stop working on it. I am a Mormon because I know that it is true. All of it the whole shebang, I know that this is the true and everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ, restored to the earth. The same church the Christ established is now reestablished on the earth today for us in this time.

How I live my faith

There are so many ways that I have been able to serve the community, I have been a missionary serving and teaching people about Jesus Christ in Brazil. I have worked with a choir of young adults that went on tour to obscure parts of the Montana to bring music and dancing to the lives of people that live in rural areas. We were able to perform for elderly people in rest homes, youth in high schools and whole communities as we have performed our shows. I have helped young children learn the basics of music. I teach classes, visit other woman in their homes, and look for every way that I can help my fellow member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or really anyone around me.
