Hi I'm Lisa

I love being a mom, reading the scriptures, homeschooling (most days), teaching art, and practicing yoga. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a mom. My best days are when my children are happy and kind to one another. I have homeschooled since my oldest was in third grade. He will be graduating from high school and a local community college in December. I guess that means I have succeeded in homeschooling with at least one of my children. I just have four more students to go. I love learning along with my children and I get especially excited when our science experiments actually work. I also enjoy studying scriptures, teaching childrens' art classes at the local gallery, practicing yoga, cooking, but not particularly doing the dishes, sewing, gardening, reading, doing, playing games, and chatting with my extended family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. They love me and I have felt their guiding hands throughout my life. I feel inspired and strenghtened by them. They have been by my side during both the good times and the not so good times. They were by my side when my husband and I buried our first child and they were by my side when I brought home the other five. They were by my side during the years of living on a part time salary to get through school and they were by my side when my husband and I finally both graduated. They were by my side when my husband became unemployed and they were by my side when he gained employment. I know the Savior atoned for my sins and sorrows and through the atonement I can overcome and endure absolutely everything life on earth has in store for me.

How I live my faith

I begin my day studying the scriptures. I must admit I am a little addicted to scripture study. My days just are not the same when I don't. The scriptures are a vital part of my life and they strengthen me. I know the scriptures are true and contain correct principles. When I follow these principles, I am happier, stronger, and feel more at peace. My heroes are men and women of the scriptures. I enjoy listening to church leaders and trying to follow their counsel. Their counsel is inspired. I work with the young children of the church and am happy to do so. They make me smile and try harder to do what is right. I love hearing testimonies, questions, answers, and opinions of children. The gospel truly is Jesus Christ's church on earth today. It is inspired and feels right. The Holy Ghost is constantly bearing witness to me that I am in the right place when I read the scriptures, attend church, serve others, and live the gospel.
