Hi I'm Clif

I like motorcycles and fast cars. I work with disabled people. I despise cold weather. I am a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Minnesota, and grew up in Oregon. I moved out to Arizona when I was 18 and love the weather here! It's great for riding motorcycles year 'round, which I love to do. I also love fast cars and anything automotive related. My job is actually to modify vehicles for handicapped people. I like to build things so I have done a lot of remodeling around the house. It's very rewarding to see my work done and get to enjoy it. I enjoy guns and shooting and have a modest collection. I have a small family composed of my wife and our daughter. We also do foster care and have seen a LOT of kids come and go through our house in the past 3 years or so.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife was a member of the church when we got married. I didn't know anything about Mormons but thought religion in general was kind of wierd. I never had any religion before meeting her and wasn't interested in church even after we got married. My wife made the perfect decision and chose not to push me into learning the gospel. Her family on the other hand wanted me to join the church. I remember meeting with missionaries in her dad's house and feeling uncomfortable. Over the next year I met with missionaries on and off thinking it wouldn't hurt. My wife wanted to get back into church activity so I would join her sometimes. I went through 3 sets of missionaries before I realized that it was true. I have tried to be a faithful member through the years and it is hard. It takes a lot of work. Sometimes it can be SO much easier to do the wrong thing, even when you know it's wrong. I try to do my best every day. Some days it's better and some days it's worse. I know that the gospel is true and that is what keeps me coming back. I know that God loves me and I don't want to let him down.

How I live my faith

Between work, church and family I am kept very busy. I am the type of person that gets into trouble when I get bored. Lately I haven't had that issue! At church I work with the full-time missionaries a lot. I get to go out with them all the time and meet new people that they are teaching. I am able to form bonds with those people and watch the gospel change their lives. And in effect, it changes my life as well. Over the years I have met so many wonderful people and have been able to see a change between when they are first introduced to the gospel and when they choose to live it. I have seen miracles happen. I have seen people quit smoking and drinking, even when they admit they have never had the strength to quit before. I get to see people reprioritize their lives in line with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Those experiences strenghten my testimony that this is the true church of God. I am a happier person now because of this church. My family is happier as well.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

All church members are called to serve in one way or another. Nobody is paid for that service. That calling is sent from God through prayer and sometimes fasting. Getting paid would defeat the purpose of being called from God and would cause the church members to be prideful in their church related service. We are able to accept or reject callings that are placed before us. Most of us graceously accept church callings because we recognize that they are indeed from God. Show more Show less
