Hi I'm Jessica

I grew up in Connecticut, I'm a wife, mother, grandma and a former teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to hike, camp, sit around a campfire with friends and family. I love to teach children and youth. I love serving people in my church, neighborhood and community. I have 4 children 4 in-law kids and 7 grandchildren who are a delight. I'm married to my best friend for the past 37 years and we love serving the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother was raised a Mormon and when she married my dad they decided the children would be raised in the church. My brother and I were the only Mormons in our school. It wasn't always easy being different, I can remember as a young child I gave up candy for lent like my friends. It was after college and marriage with a baby on the way I examined what I had been taught growing up and searched for answers to my questions. I learned more about the temple and the ordinances we do there for our ancesters. Coming from a part member family I had all my dad's side that were not Mormons. Realizing that through the gospel families can be together forever was extrenely important to me and that was the turning point when I knew the Mormon church was true. Heavenly Father loves all his children and he would provide a way for all to return to Him. He has through the ordinances in the temple that bind or seal families together and the geneology work we do and the ordinances we do for our ancestors. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) is Christ's church and the Prieshood gives men the authority to lead and act in His name.

How I live my faith

I serve as a Seminary supervisor in the church. Seminary is early morning religious instruction for youth ages 14-18, typically high school students. Where I live they attend these classes before school. They study the Old and New Testament, Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants and Church History over a 4 year period. I have always taught children or youth in the church. I love teaching and I love the children and youth. They keep me on my toes. I also visit teach sisters in my church, with a companion we bring a monthly inspirational message and help in any way we can. We've brought meals when new babies arrive, when someone has been ill or someone has experienced a loss in their family. It makes me feel useful to help and serve my sisters. I also serve in my community on a social committee, to help plan activites for the families and people of all ages. I admit I volunteer for most of the family activities, I love to see the smiles and hear the giggles of the children.
