Hi I'm Marin Fairbanks

I'm a Highschool Graduate, a College Student, a History Education Major, A Green Belt in Kenpo and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a freshmen in College. I am a History Education major studying to become a Highschool History teacher. I am living on my own away from home for the first time and it is crazy scary. I have 5 roommates and they are fantastic. Life is going through lots of changes for this Arizona girl from Hot to Cold.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and some might say well you were raised a Mormon that's why you are or you were forced to be. Its true that my parents have always encouraged me to be active in the church but it is still my choice. I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and taken Moroni's challenge and prayed to know that this book is true. i have prayed to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and etc. Every time i have prayed I have received a witness form the Holy Ghost telling me that this is the true church and that the Lord loves me and all his children. And that is why he put the gospel on the earth because he loves us and wants me to return to live with him again and he wants me to be happy. I am a Mormon because i know its true and because the truth of the gospel brings me joy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by everyday praying and communicating to my Heavenly Father. Also every week I attend my Sunday meetings. Also I am now the Home Evening assistant cordinator for my Home evening group. Here at college there is obviously a lot of of young single adults and because of this those of us belong to what we call young single adult wards. Because most of us are far away from home once a week we all get together and have a lesson and do some sort of fun activity. Its a great way to meet knew people but also to come together and learn about Christ. By participating and doing my best to make these activities go smoothly I can be an instrument in God's hands by serving his children.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Marin Fairbanks
I have heard this question asked a lot even by members themselves. Why do we willing give 10% pf our income to the church. It is a commandment and has been sense the Bible. The Lord give us so much is it so hard to just give him 10% back what is rightfully his. The Lord uses tithing as a way to have us rely on him and trust in him. I am student and I have a part time job that pays minimum wage sometimes it would be nice and much more convenient to not pay tithing. But I can't afford not to I have seen the blessings that I receive from paying my tithing no i do not live like a king but i have never gone hungry i have always found away to pay every bill and to still be able to have fun. The Lord blesses me for paying tithing is Malachi 3:8 it says he will pour out the windows of heaven upon you so you won't even have room to receive it. that has happened to me the simple blessing of having the shampoo last longer than it should have or the purse zipper that should have been broken but all of the sudden was fine or clothes fitting better when they didn't before or the gas tank lasting longer than usual those are just the material blessing the greatest blessing is that because i am a full tithe payer i can go to the temple. I can go to the house of the Lord and worship. Paying 10% is small in comparison to what the Lord does for me on a day to day basis and I'm glad that I can pay back the tiniest bit to Him.
