Hi I'm Valerie

I'm a violin playing, picture taking, water loving, whale riding wife to my absolute best friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the eighth child of nine in a military family. My happiest memories are of times spent with my family, and all the quirky things that make us unique. I love the mountains, the oceans, basically anything outdoors. For the past nine years I've been having the time of my life training and performing with dolphins and beluga whales. Yes, I even get to ride them! Who knew that I could actually make a career combining swimming and biology, two things I have always loved? I love the animals I work with—they challenge me and amaze me with everything they can do. Four years ago, I married my best friend, and now my patient husband gets to deal with me as I learn how to be a wife and homemaker. He also challenges me daily to be my best, and encourages me to pursue my interests. Thanks to his support, I am now taking violin lessons, learning digital photography, and trying new recipes all the time!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with the gospel message, and never doubted its truth. My testimony has been strengthened by an accumulation of many witnesses over the years, the feelings from the Holy Ghost affirming its truth, and the “minor miracles” I can see in my own life. I have been blessed with a loving family who also shares my faith, and my greatest joy is knowing that we are sealed together, through our faith, as an eternal family. Life can be unexpected, and it’s comforting to know that the gospel is a steady foundation for me to build on. When things do not go as planned, the gospel helps me see the bigger picture of my life, and I grow from the experience. When I make mistakes (and believe me I am nowhere close to being perfect!), I take comfort in knowing that my continuing best effort, along with help from my loving Heavenly Father, will make up for what I lack. I believe wholeheartedly that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contains the true and complete gospel of Jesus Christ. It fills my life with so much joy!

How I live my faith

I'm a brand new teacher for the youth in our ward! Each week my testimony is strengthened as I prepare and present a lesson for the young women. I love these daughters of God, love that they are so full of enthusiasm for the gospel and for their future. I attend church weekly, and live my religion every day. I will gladly answer any question posed to me about our faith. I want to make sure every person who gets to know me knows what I believe!
