Hi I'm Suze

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 5 and work in an elementary setting with children with disabilities. One of my children, Jonathon, has Down Syndrome, so I have often been known as "Jonathon's mom." When Jonathon was an early scout in the Boy Scouts of America, his troop walked in a parade while Jonathon rode his adult trike. THe route was long and I walked on the sidewalk following along in case there was any problems. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I was pushed aside as another woman fought to get closer to the curb shouting, "Jonathon!" and excitedly waving to him then turning to those she left behind just excitedly coaxing, "That's my Jonathon! Come see my Jonathon!" I had to keep up so I couldn't stop to find out who this person was who was claiming Jonathon as her own, but the love that I had seen from perfect strangers helped me realize the joy in being involved in the life of a child with special needs. So many times I have been lifted by the love extended to my special needs son. I learned soon on our own road I wanted to do the same for other families. I love working with children with special needs.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a pioneer foundation on my mother's side and my father is a convert. I have seen the impact that the Gospel has on someone's life. It brings me happiness and purpose. I love the emphasis that our church has on strengthening our family. But, I also love that I can go anywhere in the world and have an instant "family" through the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through serving others. I love that our church believes in being involved in the community and helping serve non profit organizations. I am also a merit badge counselor for the Boy Scouts of America. Through the Boy Scouts, I have been able to serve my community.
