Hi I'm Amanda

I grew up in Michigan. I am a graduate student at Northern Arizona University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a large family, and we moved around a lot because my dad was in the military. I spent most of my life in Michigan enjoying the beautiful lakes and beaches. I played two years of junior college volleyball. I then moved to Utah to finish my degree in Behavioral Sciene. I am currently a first year graduate student working toward my master's degree in School Counseling. I love being outdoors, hiking, playing sports, and going to the beach (when I am near one). I still love to play volleyball, and I play any chance I get. I also like to take pictures and scrapbook my memories. I am a newlywed, and I enjoy spending time with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The greatest part about growing up in family was that I always felt a deep connection to them. I knew from a very young age that because I have a loving Heavenly Father, I would have a chance to be with my family forever, even after this life. My testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ has grown immensely over the years. I am grateful to my mother who taught me the gospel and helped me gain a testimony of my own. I have a firm testimony of this gospel. I know that Jesus Christ lived on this Earth; He led the way for us by being baptized, receiving the Holy Ghost, and living a perfect life. Although I am not perfect, I know that He loves me, and it is through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that I can be forgiven of my sins. Jesus Christ knows us perfectly and personally, and He knows how to comfort us. I know that after His death, He was resurrected and that He lives. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father who watches over me and loves me. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. Because of his faith, God trusted him to be the modern day prophet who restored the gospel of Jesus Christ on the Earth today. I know that Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet on the Earth today. He leads and guides us in righteousness according to our Heavenly Father's will. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and it is a perfect companion to the Holy Bible. Together they have brought the fullness of Christ's gospel to the Earth today. I have a testimony of the importance of family, and I know that if we are faithful and live righteously, we can live with them again in the kingdom of heaven. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is headed by our Savior, and it is true.

How I live my faith

I have held a number of callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been blessed to create activities for young single adults and to be a teacher in family history work. I have also been blessed to be a visiting teacher, in which I have made many relationships with women of all ages and from all walks of life. I am currently serving, with my husband, as a teacher of 7 and 8 year olds in Sunday School. Teaching these children is amazing because they are so knowledgable and they have strong testimonies of Jesus Christ. I feel greatly blessed that the Lord trusts me enough to teach small children, especially because we live in trying times. I also enjoy participating in various acitivities in the church such as potlucks, service projects and getting together with the women of my faith.
