Hi I'm Jessica

I'm an Activities Director, a single mom of three, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mother of three children. They are my most important job. I am also an Activities Director/Recreational Therapist in an assisted living community. I love playing the piano, and singing. I also enjoy cooking, reading, and exercising. As the oldest of nine children I enjoy getting together with my large family and just spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have lived the principles taught in the church my life has become increasingly enriched and blessed. I know these principles are true, because they have worked in my life. My family and I have been through several tragedies over the last few years. The gospel has helped us through these hard times, and given us hope of seeing our loved ones again. These principles also help me when I'm dealing with screaming children, having a hard day at work, or am just feeling down or frustrated about hard circumstances in my life. These principles have become even more important to me as I have gone through a difficult divorce that was the result or very poor choices made by my husband. The gospel has helped me to keep a positive outlook on life, and given me the ability to keep my head up and keep going. As I have kept my covenants I have felt the guiding influence of the spirit as I have helped my children through the trials that have come our way.

How I live my faith

At this time I serve as the Primary Music Leader at church. I have the opportunity to teach the children ages 18 months-11 years songs that teach the gospel in a very fun way. I enjoy being with the kids, and feeling the spirit that comes from sharing testimony through music. In my home we read scriptures and pray together daily, both together and individually. We also enjoy a weekly "Family Home Evening" in which we sing hymns, pray, have a gospel lesson, a fun activity and a treat together. This helps us draw closer as a family, as we learn the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries will share a message about Jesus Christ, His atonement, and love for us. They will teach you about the great plan of happiness that our Heavenly Father has laid out for us, through His son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Absolutely not. In fact, we receive council from our church leaders before any major election not to use the church or it's facilities for any kind of political campaigning or discussion. We are encouraged to study the issues and the candidates, and to vote according to how we feel best. Yes, it's true that many of us may vote the same way, but that is simply because we have the same beliefs and values and want them upheld, but even among church members there are differences of opinion. We do not allow our political interests to be part of our church discussions or activities. Show more Show less
