Hi I'm Dan

I'm a telecommunications engineer. I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 37 year old father of six wonderful children. I work full-time as a Telecommunications Engineer for a national wireless provider and part-time as a Telecom Administrator for a regional non-profit health care provider. I wish I had more time to follow my hobbies of camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing and amateur radio. However, I find greater enjoyment in spending my limited free time with my family. Together my family participates in weekly family movies in our home, as well as picnics to the park, jumping on our trampoline and playing games together. I am an Eagle Scout and still involved in scouting through two of my boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I don't claim to be perfect, I'm far from it. I have many faults that I'm not proud of; however, in the end I'm doing my best to follow the teachings of my Savior Jesus Christ. Throughout my life I've received many blessings that confirm to me I'm on the right path. One of the largest blessings I've received occurred when my wife and I were working to purchase our first house. About six months before, we were informed one of our kids has Asperger Syndrome. Because of the type of loan we qualified for, we were limited to certain areas in which we could purchase our home. We were looking to purchase a home in a certain area that would allow me to not move farther from work. Yet every time we thought we had a house, it either had a previous offer or was taken off the market. We finally found a house, though it was in a place that would require a two hour commute. About four months later I found out why we were led to the house we purchased. It was the Friday before our child with Aspergers was to start Kindergarten. I received a call from the school district informing me about a special program that was designed for kids with Aspergers. The program was designed to help children learn some of the basic skills that most people take for granted, how to read emotions on people, basic social skills as well as the integration into a standard classroom. The program maintains small class sizes and many people have been turned down when applying for the program. I know the school district we moved from didn't have a program like this one, and it is a highly rated district in the region. Since that time my wife and I have seen incredible improvements in our son, improvements we we doubt would've happened without this program. It is through this and many other experiences, that I know The Lord is active in my life and loves me very much.

How I live my faith

I love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is through the church that I have been able to make my contributions back to the community. I have participated in several different service projects over the years, that were organized through the church. These range in everything from cleaning headstones in a cemetery as a youth to working to maintain the grounds in area schools. I've also been blessed with the opportunity to serve as a teacher for those that Jesus Christ found most precious, the children. Over the years I've also been able to serve as a leader in several Cub Scout Packs.
