Hi I'm Scott

I live in BC, Canada. I speak Spanish, I'm studying mechanical engineering. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student of mechanical engineering, I enjoy math and problem solving and innovation. My interests outside of school include carpentry, the culinary arts, and the great outdoors. Specifically I'm an avid cyclist and hiker. I enjoy camping and fishing. I play tennis, soccer, and racquetball. I spent 2 years in Nevada amongst the Hispanic populations, learning their language and culture, and having it become a part of who I am and the way I live.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the Lord. Because I am striving to follow my savoir. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helps me do this. The church provides opportunities to serve and to learn and grow in all capacities. But most importantly is the presence of the priesthood or power of God. This is the authority directly from Christ to act in His name. I know the church is true and that the priesthood was restored to the prophet Joseph Smith Jr. as he was called to reorganize Christ's church upon the Earth. That Christ leads and guides His prophet and apostles as they serve in the Church. The scriptures are the word of God and provide direction in my life as to how I can better follow the commandments and examples of righteous persons. The Book of Mormon testifies of truth eternal, of the teachings of Christ. This is the Lord's kingdom on Earth and He will return in light and glory.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving within to follow my savoir and to do as He would and as He directs. I strive to love my Heavenly Father and each of His children. I have several callings or responsibilities in the church where I live. I am the representative or leader of the single adults in my ward. I serve by organizing them and activities where we can grow and support one another. Each week we have activities together that focus on four areas; spiritual, educational, service, and fun. Through these activities we get to know one another better and grow closer together. I serve to assist the missionaries in our area as they search for and teach those who the Lord guides them to find and to teach. Often times I will go and visit persons investigating the church with the missionaries and I try to offer any assistance they may require - they being the missionaries or the investigator. I help others come unto Christ.
