Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a hopeless romantic. I love Harry Potter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Melissa, and I am very much a princess. I've been married for almost a year to my Prince Charming. I love theatre, good literature, beautiful music, and laughing. I love food, especially fettuccine alfredo and oranges & cream ice cream. I love theatre, good literature, beautiful music, and laughing. Harry Potter is my favorite book series. I absolutely adore those books. They are brilliant, and so beautifully written. I also love the Lord of the Rings movies, and I'm a big fan of period pieces and war movies. Jewelry making is a favorite hobby of mine, as well as cross stitching and crocheting. I enjoy using my imagination and writing from time to time, though I'm afraid I don't really hold a candle as a writer. Singing and dancing are also favorites, especially singing. There's nothing like singing your heart out around the piano with family and friends. It's heaven.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church and never once in my life have I questioned the truth of it. I never had to. From the time I was tiny I knew that going to church, saying my prayers and reading the Book of Mormon was the thing to do, and as I got older my testimony swelled through my own experiences as I put the Lord and the Book of Mormon to the test. I know that the Lord's true church was restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that the Book of Mormon is the truest book on the earth. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's chosen prophet today and that he receives revelation from him on our behalf. I know that the one road to happiness is by obeying the commandments of God and trying every day to become more like Christ. Life is so much easier with the knowledge of my true identity, purpose, and potential. I know that Jesus Christ lives, that he suffered in Gethsemane for me, and because of his sacrifice I can correct my mistakes and become clean. I know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me, and I love him.

How I live my faith

At church I team teach a class of 8/9 year old boys. This year we've been studying the life of Christ and his teachings as recorded in the New Testament. I especially enjoyed teaching the boys about the Atonement of Christ, his death and his resurrection. I've also enjoyed going to activities with other women in my ward this year as we've learned about home canning, emergency preparedness, psychology and how it pertains to our spiritual and emotional health, as well as spirituality and strengthening our testimonies in Christ. The activities are fun and educational, and I always feel welcome and loved as I socialize with other women in my neighborhood.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Melissa
Absolutely. My husband and I were married in the temple, where we were married for this life and for eternity. With the proper authority from God, a temple sealer can perform a sealing for a husband and wife or a whole family (which means that if they believe in Christ and are found worthy, they can be glued together as a family forever, metaphorically speaking). God wants us to be with the people we love for all time, and through the restoration of his gospel he's provided a way for us to do that. Show more Show less
