Hi I'm Brett

I grew up in Mesa, AZ. I went to Mtn. View High School and now go to Mesa Community College. I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a people person. I love being with other people and making new friends. I just think its way fun learning about "what makes people tick". I have always been somewhat of a "people-person" in the sense that I am happiest when I'm around others. I've lived in Mesa just about all my life other than the last two years when I lived in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. That was awesome! I learned so much living among the Brazilian people and seeing how they aren't so different from anyone else I ever met in the United States. One thing that I love to do is scuba dive. I haven't been able to go as much as I'd like, but I hope to change that. I like hunting and fishing. Being outdoors in general is just awesome! Especially in the water. If I could, I'd spend all my free time at the lake, river or beach. Another thing I love is going on vacation to Mexico. My family has vacationed there since before I was born. It is so much fun. Just camping in a trailer park and being a couple hundred feet from the beach and homemade mexican tacos and burritos. Can life get better?

Why I am a Mormon

Every good thing that I have in life has come as a result of the decision I make each day to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness. I know that the fulness of His Gospel is only available through this Church which is guided by Christ himself through his living prophet. So I'm a Mormon because I know that I could never be as happy as I am without the teachings of Jesus Christ that I can only recieve in their fulness through this, His Church. I haven't always been as "gung-ho" about being a Mormon. For a large part of my life, I was a Mormon because my parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sister all were. But when my faith started to be tested as I went through difficult times in my life, most specifically when I was in Brazil called by a prophet to teach the Gospel to God's children, I had to KNOW for myself. I was thousands of miles from my family and all those who had strengthened me throughout my life. So I turned to the Lord and simply asked to know for myself that all of this is true. I had heard it many times and it was still easier than I could have imagined. In 24 months serving the Lord in Brazil, I not only learned for myself that this is Christ's Church, but also learned the answer to many other questions that I had. And all of it came as answers to prayer. I'm a Mormon because when I prayed and asked my Heavenly Father if this truly is His Church, He answered me that it is. I could feel it in my heart and knew it in my mind.

How I live my faith

Right now I have the opportunity to work with the youth of the Church. More specifically with the young men. It's kinda weird because I still consider myself a young man and now I am supposed to be their leader and an example for them. It's awesome though! It is a blast to see these young guys that do what is right despite the fact that many of their friends don't. It strengthens my testimony of this Gospel when I see how much these guys want to do what is right when I can look at so many other people their age that don't at all. Along with a few other adults, I get to meet with these young men every week in a part of our Sunday meetings. Even though most of the time the adults are who teach the lessons in our class, it's these young man that teach us how to live what we teach. I can still remember what it was like trying to be like Christ as a young kid even when the world seemed to be screaming at me not to. Well today, the world is screaming louder than ever. I have so much respect for these guys that, at such a pivotal point in their life and against all odds, choose to do what their Heavenly Father expects of them.
