Hi I'm Katherine

I love to read, paint, and style hair. I want to travel the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

If I had to choose one hobby that I have that defines me, it would be reading. I DEVOUR books, They are the one thing that can take you anywhere fiction or existing, let you be who you choose, and experience a new world. Plus, it helps minds grow! Other than that, I am about to start a semester at a technical college, studying cosmetology. I love to do anything artsy, from writing to decorating to music. I have gone through many trials in my life, but they have helped me to be more understanding and empathetic. I haven't been to many places, but one of my dreams is to travel the world. I love and crave adventure and new experiences. I love my family and friends with all my heart and would be lost without them :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, and have since been raised by a strong mother in the gospel. My mother is one of my biggest examples of staying strong no matter the situation. I sometimes contemplate what my life would be like if I didn't have the influence of this church, but I don't get very far because I can't even BEGIN to imagine where I would be. There is nothing that has influenced my decisions and actions and point of view more than just being a Mormon and being raised in the gospel. It is an important factor in my life, and I do my best to live that every day.

How I live my faith

I started going to a singles ward (for those who may not know, this is a group of people who meet for church who are between the ages of 18 and 30) almost a year and a half ago, and I LOVE IT. I can relate to the people more easily and it's a good way to make more friends and build a testimony. I was previously an instructor- which I was terrified about but I ended up REALLY enjoying it. I am now a 1st Counselor in a presidency and it's one of the most challenging and enlightening experiences I've ever had. I personally need to be more diligent in my visiting teaching, and that is one of my biggest goals at the moment.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Katherine
The Church's welfare program has been created in order to teach the members self-reliance as well as the joy of serving and caring for others. Those who receive welfare are encouraged to work and serve so that they can be blessed as well as bless others' lives. When you work, you are not only helping others, but it helps you to forget what trials you are going through and teaches you to focus on what you can do to help others and teach them how to help themselves.
