Hi I'm Valerie

I grew up in Maryland and Florida. I am a wife and a mother and grandmother. I work in an elementary school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 wonderful children and grandmother of 4 fabulous grandchildren. I love to be with my family as much as possible since some of my children and grandchildren live in other states. I enjoy getting together with them and playing games, cooking, shopping, traveling, and reading books to the little ones. I work part-time at an elementary school in my area and teach children that struggle with reading and math. I love being able to see the progress in my students as they understand a concept in math or read a word that they have never been able to read before. It's a very rewarding experience for me. I love the students I interact with each day and hope I am making some kind of difference in their lives.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad was raised a Mormon and my mom was a convert. I have been raised as a Mormon and grew up in Maryland and Florida where there wasn't a lot of Mormons. I loved growing up in these 2 areas and being able to tell others what I believed in. I know that I am a daughter of God and that Jesus Christ is my Savior. He died on the cross for my sins and all the sins of the world. I love my Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I have felt the truthfulness of it during my life as I've had trials and reading the Book of Mormon has helped me through those trials. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me every day to try and live the commandments and to do what is right. Many times I fall short, but I continue to try and do my best and never give up. I'm so grateful to be a Mormon and to have a testimony of the gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best example of Jesus Christ as I can. On Sundays, I teach the 3 and 4 year olds about Jesus and following his example. The little ones teach me so much as they pray in class and talk about the scripture stories. Many times I have helped with activities in the church and love participating in that. Sometimes we have activities for the children 3 years to 11 years of age and we all have a lot of fun. We sing songs, play games, eat, teach a craft, learn about stories in the scriptures, etc. I also love visiting teaching where I have the opportunity to visit a few ladies in my ward each month and get to know them better and leave a message about the gospel. It's a great opportunity to get to know these ladies better and to become better friends with them. I try to live my faith each day as I go to work and associate with many different people. I try to live my faith as I visit with neighbors and also in my own family. I'm so grateful to know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and if I keep the commandments and do the right things that I can live with them again.
