Hi I'm Tom

I love to fish, travel, and garden and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three, grandfather of 11, and great grandfather of 8 with many more to come! I enjoy visiting them and reliving their accomplishments in life. I especially love to see their weddings, kids, and hearing of their school adventures. I taught high school chemistry for about 13 years and then became a real estate broker because I wanted a change in occupation. I enjoy going up to fish every year in Alaska with my son in law and various grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

We were acquainted with Mormons who lived in our area, in fact even our paper boy was a Mormon and he did a good job of getting our paper on our porch, so I liked him. My daughter had a good friend in high school who was a Mormon who invited her over to spend the night. One time after one of these visits she came home and told my wife and I that these people had prayer at night together as a family, and why didn't we have prayers. Well that was shocking! We knew something was missing in our lives. So, we started searching for another church. As part of this search we went to Salt Lake City. While there we visited the Temple Square visitors' center and saw movies about Mormonism. We talked with some of the missionaries there and after this we visisted Brigham Young University. We were impressed at how clean cut, modestly dressed, and happy all the students seemed to be. It was a wonderful place, a place where I would want my children to go. So, we filled out a card at the church visitor's center and invited the missionaries to our home to learn more about this religion. After taking the lessons we went to a church meeting and were impressed with the friendly folks and by then we had read the Articles of Faith in the Book of Mormon. So, we knew this was the church for us.

How I live my faith

We now have prayers in our home and attend our church meetings regularly. We do all we can to support our leaders. Our family has been brought up in the church and our children have been able to go to that beautiful school of Brigham Young University. They're now faithful members of the church also. My wife and I have served in Florida on a year long mission to share the joy that we feel. We try to serve others by going to the church cannery to can food for those in need.
