Hi I'm Josh Abbott

I am a husband, a fluent Spanish speaker, an MBA, a kid at heart, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah and am the second oldest child, and oldest boy of five kids. I was raised a mormon and have gone through times where it made me happy and where it drove me a little crazy. The greatest thing about growing up mormon has always been the freedom I have felt to make my own decisions and choose the path that I would take. I know that some people see the church and believe that all the rules mean that we don't have a lot of choices but the truth is that I have always felt more freedom being a member of the church than others who feel that less rules means more freedom. The guidance that I feel from the gospel and the church have helped me through some of the most difficult parts of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is true. That knowledge comes from a deep relationship with my Heavenly Father. Through countless experiences he has shown me that he knows who I am and that he loves me. This is the basis of my testimony and what I have built my life on. Knowing that God loves me has driven me to question what he wants for me. Any good parent wants the best for their children and that knowledge lead me on a search to determine if God had a plan for all of us and what my part was in that plan. I found that answer while serving a two year mission for the church in Guatemala. I found that I don't have to change my personality to be a good member of the church or to be a strong and valiant son of my Heavenly Father. What he wants for me is to simply be myself, a fun loving, goofy, quick witted, loving man who looks for ways to learn and improve every day. I don't have to be perfect today, just as long as I get a little better tomorrow. I love that the church teaches the pure gospel of Jesus Christ and that simply is that God loves us and has a plan for us. If we love him, as we should, we will strive to live in accordance to that gospel. I love my Father in Heaven and his son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. As I learn more and more about their plan for us I can see their love manifest and it makes me strive to be a better husband, brother, son, and servant of God, Jesus Christ, my family, and every person around me.

How I live my faith

I try to be a good example for those around me but often fall short. One of the greatest things about the gospel is knowing that I don't have to be perfect. All that is expected of me is to work a little harder every day to get better. I feel strength through the support I receive from my friends and family and know that through my efforts I will one day become the person that I have always wanted to be.
