Hi I'm Heather

I'm a mom to two great kids and married to a recovering addict. I am an instructional designer and researcher in the U.S.

About Me

I am a mother of two wonderful kids and wife to a recovering addict. My marriage has been the greatest struggle and one of the greatest sources of joy in my life. My kids are the other source of joy in my life (and struggle too because being a parent isn't easy). But I love all of them. I love learning and this has oriented my school studies (PhD in 2012) and now my work of research in education, specifically incorporating technology into learning and changing of pedagogical practice. I love reading, hiking, backpacking, photography, baking, rock climbing, snow skiing, and most recently biking. The most important thing to me in life is my family. I try to orient all my decisions based on what is best for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Having grown up in the church, as an adult I choose to stay an active member of the LDS (Mormon) church because I believe in Christ's teachings and find I can be personally closest to Him this way. My life has always been blessed when I follow Christ; not that it is always easy. But I strive to keep a long range perspective.

How I live my faith

I live each week striving to be closer to Christ. Through a combination of prayer, scripture reading/study, church attendance, activities with my family, and searching for Christ in everyday life I continually work on my relationship with Him. I have had many opportunities to serve others, teach youth and adults using the scriptures, and learn through my various callings at church. My faith and beliefs are part of who I am.
