Hi I'm Scott

I am very happily married and have 9 children. I'm a dentist and scoutmaster. I love to run, read, and scuba. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My greatest joy has been spending time with my wife and kids camping, travelling, and having fun trying out new things. It just seems to get more fun and meaningful the older I get. As a dentist I enjoy learning new techniques and love working with people to improve their health and self esteem. I have been ivolved in Boy scouting for 30 years as an adult leader and enjoy helping young men develop great qualities, learn self confidence, and develop their skills. I have hiked and camped all over Arizona and have participated 4 times in the National Boy Scout Jamboree in Virginia. I enjoy running and have participated in several long distance races including recently a Ragnar for the first time. I also have enjoyed scuba diving in many places on the West Coast. I love to read. I particularly enjoy science fiction and fantasy series with dragons, elfs, dwarfs, wizards and the like.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a very firm conviction that God loves me and my family as I have seen His hand in our lives so often and so clearly in direct answer to my prayers to Him. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life and the teachings I have learned and lived have helped me develop a very wonderful relationship with the Lord. As I have studied the Bible and the Book of Mormon and the teachings of the prophets of the Church, they so clearly fit together, it has been a further strength to my testimony of the Church's truthfulness. The Holy Spirit has witnessed to me time and again of the truthfulness of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ as I have read and studied God's word. As I have strived to live God's teachings and completed the ordinances of baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, receiving the priesthood and then going to the temple to complete the ordinances there, I have felt the overwhelming, wonderous, warm, joyous feelings of the Holy Spirit testifying to my soul of the truths of the Gospel. I know we have a prophet that speaks with God in these last days and that Christ will again come upon this earth at His second coming. Christ's true church has been restored to help prepare us for that great day of joy and peace! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains all God's truths restored to the earth that have been lost through the ages when there were no prophets and apostles of Jesus Christ on the earth. Joseph Smith was the first prophet of these latter days and he was called of God to start this restoration and prophets and apostles have continued to be called from his time til today. I bear testimony of these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

How I live my faith

The Church has taught me the value of my family relationships and the importance of the time I spend with my family. The more time I spend with my wife and children the more happiness and fulfilment I find. We have weekly family gatherings on Monday night with our children called Family Home Evening. We try to eat together and discuss our days at dinner. We read scriptures together as a family and pray together and attend church together. We also enjoy going to the temple with our older children. We believe in the eternal nature of our family-that our relationships last beyond the grave and last forever. We are all striving to live God's commandments and develop the faith necessary so as we can be together in God's kingdom with all our family members. The church has taught us to be involved with improving the world we live in by serving others. I love helping with young men through the Boy Scouts and enjoy watching them develop their talents and characters to become wonderful heads of their own families and great citizens and businessmen.
