Hi I'm Scott

I have a family with my wonderful wife Wendy and four children ages 5 to 14, 3 boys and a girl. We are Mormon!

About Me

One of my top priorities is trying to be a good husband and father. This takes up a lot of time & energy as any father of four would attest. I am thankfully in a career where I can afford to have my wife at home to rear our children. We just sent our last one off to kindergarten this year - - it feels strange to be that old. I actually still feel really young at heart. Being with my wife and children helps to renew that sense of youthfulness. It can be exhausting and frustrating at times but the rewards and love I feel in return are priceless. It comes full circle when we have the opportunities to reunite with my or my wifes parents and all of our siblings. I was raised in a family with six children and my wife came from a family with 7 children. Getting together with the extended family is truly a joy. I also really enjoy my career. It took four years of undergraduate studies, four years of post graduate studies and four years of internship/residency to get to being a physician, but all the hard work has payed off. I very much enjoy interacting with patients on a person level so that I can help them out in their times of need.

Why I am a Mormon

My relationship with my Saviour is the only relationship that trumps that of my relationship with my wife and family. Luckily these are very symbiotic relationships, each building and fortifying the others. As such my testimony in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ only strengthens when I am making good choices with my family in mind. This, I think, is the greatest asset that the Gospel of Jesus Christ affords me and my family. Its ability to bring happiness and joy into our life if we just live by the principles set forth by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. These principles and guides are revealed to us by a living prophet as well as by personal study of the gospel through the scriptures which incorporates the Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price and The Doctrine and Covenants. The person revelation throught the Holy Ghost in my life that I receive when I have pondered the teachings from the prophets now and from the scriptures has been invaluable. Seeking for confirmation from the Holy Ghost has helped me to confirm every major step or decision in my life. It has truly been a blessing throughout my life. I know that we have a Father in Heaven who cares for us deeply and sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer for our sins that we may one day return and be with them again. This sacrifice that he gave is truly humbling. Christ is the perfect example, he is the Great Sheppard.

How I live my faith

I currently am an assitant scout master in the scouting program that our church strongly encourages all the young men in the church to participate in. Just this last summer myself and the 13 and 14 year old boys went on grueling 5o mile hike in 4 days along the coast of the Washington by the Olympics. At times it seemed undoable but we all dug in and accomplished the goal that we set forth. It was truly a learning experience for all the young men and leaders involved. I think as a physician, it is also important to emulate Christ and his care and compassion in my field of work. I think doing so often helps me to have more empathy towards my patients. Understanding the gospel gives me an eternal perspective on the trials and tribulations that my patients, myself and the world at large are suffering through. It helps to give me hope, strength and an increased faith.
