Hi I'm Melanie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of a special needs boy with Autism. I am married to a wonderful husband who is disabled and unable to work. I drive a school bus for a living. I love all my kids at home and on the bus. I was a single mother for my sons first seven years. My son and I lead a very private life because of his autism. It was very hard at times because I did not always know what was wrong with my son, I just knew that he was different than other kids. My husband and I married 7 years ago and it has been wonderful to have a partner to share everything with. He was a member when we met. I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be as well. He was a smoker and together over the course of a year managed to stop smoking. Since then we have always told each other if we can get through him quitting smoking as newlyweds, then we can get through anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Protestant, so I have always had faith in God. But from the time I was a teenager to when I met my husband I did not step into a church more than a dozen times. When my son was about three I took him to a local "non-denomination" church maybe once a month for a year. But I stopped going because I was invisible it just was not very personable. I was so hungry for God though, so I prayed all the time and read the Bible as much as I could. One of things I prayed for was to meet someone, I wanted to get married! God answered my prayers within month's and when my now husband told me he was Mormon, I was thrilled. I could not even tell you why. I just new this is what God wanted me to do! I have never ever regretted becoming Mormon. It has been wonderful to see my husband grow in his faith as well as my son!

How I live my faith

I have helped with the canary. I have also helped in the church Library. I have helped with service projects such as painting over graffiti. I have also visited other members at there homes. There is always Christmas trees up at the church during the holidays with tags with things people need. I love taking 1 or 2 of those and helping with that.
