Hi I'm David

I am from he Seattle area. I love learning, being outdoors, and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Seattle area. I love the Pacific Northwest, and love spending time outdoors, whether it is camping, hiking, playing sports, or just hanging out in the backyard with my family. I have a wonderful wife and a 2 year old son. As a family we like to go to the playground near our house, read books, and make and eat great food. I am continually surprised by how smart and engaged my son can be, and I love having the opportunity to watch him grow and teach him about the world. In college I studied Mathematics. After I graduated I got a job using my math skills as an Actuary. I spend most of my day crunching numbers, solving problems, and playing around with spreadsheets. It is great. I have a passion for learning that spans many aspects of my life, from professional exams that I take to my love of the Spanish language to my interest in astronomy. I plan to stay curious and keep learning throughout my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. I believe everyone in life is searching for happiness. I think this desire for true happiness drives most of the decisions that we make every day, whether we realize it or not. I know that God is real. He knows me and has real expectations for my life. That knowledge brings me a lot of comfort and inspiration. Many times I have asked Him what He wants me to do, and He has shown me. Growing up my family always went to church. I remember when I first moved out on my own I had this moment of realizing that now that I was out on my own I could do whatever I wanted. I could do ANYTHING. It made me think long and hard about exactly what it was that I wanted. I realized that I wanted to continue to be a Mormon, to follow Jesus Christ, and to live His gospel. It had always made me happy, and it continues to make me happy today. I know that God lives and that He loves me. He knows what we need in order to be happy and become like Him, and He will tell us, all we need to do is ask. I asked. He answered. And that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in every part of my life. I go to church on Sunday and listen to sermons and classes, but if those words don't change me, I might as well stop going to church. I try to be kind and thoughtful to those around me. I try to be honest and act with integrity in every situation that I find myself in. The gospel impacts every part of my life, from my home life, to work, to my relationships with friends, family, and even strangers. My faith inspires me to be the best me that I can be.
