Hi I'm Bill

I'm a retired soldier. I'm a late-in-life scholar. I'm an accountant and financial analyst. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an avid photographer. I have been to all 50 of the United States. I lived in Germany for 13 years and in England for 2 years when I served in the Air Force and the Army. I've been able to pay my respects to those of my comrades who served on the Normandy beaches as well as at the Arizona Memorial. After serving in the military for 20+ years, I lived my lifelong dream of becoming an accountant. I worked at Fortune 100 companies for 10 years. Then I took a position with a recent acquired company entering the realm of being publicly traded. My wife and I have been married 34+ years and have raised three wonderful daughters. One was born in Washington, DC. Another was born in Berlin. A third was born in Florida.

Why I am a Mormon

While the ravages of the Vietnam War were raging in Southeast Asia, I entered into military service as a Russian translator and served in western Germany. Shortly after hostilities concluded, my unit was shut down and I was reassigned to England. I reached the point in my life that I felt if I was no longer here, it wouldn't matter. Then this overwhelming feeling of love and reassurance from a very caring God let me know that He did, in fact, know me personally, knew of my trials, and knew he had stuff for me to do before I came "home'. I met ths wonderful lady who stood out different from those around her. In attending church with this wonderful lady, I came to realize that the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ was on the Earth. I came to realize that the questions I had that could not be answered with truthfulness and clarity by the established clergy of the church in which I was raised could be answered by the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the Bible and other revealed word. God didn't quit caring about me. Those who thought they knew Him really did not know Him nor have his authority to preach his word. I came to realize through reading the scriptures and much prayer that the Lord did once again talk to man face to face and reestablished the Gospel that he taught two centuries beforehand. As I learned each Gospel concept, I realized that all of the parts once again fit together as they should, and it all made sense.

How I live my faith

I serve in the Mesa Arizona temple as an ordinance worker. It is here where I act for and in behalf of the Lord with his full authority to perform the life saving ordinances of the Gospel that assist in families being together for time and all eternity. I have been able to use my language skills in Spanish and Russian to help others who have come to the temple to serve their ancestors as well as themselves. The desire to serve others has prompted me to travel as much as I can to see other people and other temples and other cultures and see how all those differences meld together in the society we call the family of man. The more I see the differences, the more I see the commonality of Heavenly Father's children. I have the opportunity to visit with four families each month to see how they are doing and see if there is anything I can do to help them do what they need to do. I try to see them on the first Sunday of the month so that if there is anything else I need to do later in the month, I have the time to do so and to make it happen. The concepts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ give me the strength and courage to stand up for what I know is right in business so that we do the right thing the first time. I don't have to worry about what I do at work showing up in the newspaper for I do that which is necessary to make sure the businesses I support follow through with the concept of being legal, moral, and ethical.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We are spiritual offspring of a kind and loving Heavenly Father. We chose to come out of His presence to demonstrate to him our love for him by keeping the commandments. Our Elder Brother, Jesus Christ, came to the earth to take upon himself the pain and suffering for our sins so that we could come back into our Father's presence. Show more Show less
