Hi I'm Mark

I was born in Iowa and at age 12 moved to San Diego where I lived until going away to college where I studied Accounting.

About Me

During my college years, I spent 2 years of my life as a missionary in Germany. I lived in Hamburg, Berlin and Gottingen. After graduating with a degree in Accounting, I worked for a public accounting firm until receiving my CPA certification. I've worked for many companies in very different industries and find myself now involved in utility scale solar development. I was born into the Mormon faith while my wife was not. She felt something missing in her life and so during her college years attended numerous different christian churches searching for a religion that would give meaning to her life. An acquaintance who was Mormon suggested she might want to attend the Mormon church which she did. She immediately began to get answers to her questions and soon thereafter asked to be baptized and begin her new life. Together we have four beautiful children. Our oldest, a boy, is serving a mission for the church in the country of Chile. Our second oldest, a girl, recently took a break from school to begin working as a nanny. Our third and fourth are also girls and enjoying school and competitive cheer leading.

Why I am a Mormon

I continue to be very active in my faith because it gives meaning and purpose to my life. One of the most exciting parts of being a Member of this church, is the realization that I can know how God wants me to live my life today through inspired teachings of Prophets and Apostles. I have the best of all worlds. I can draw close to the Savior, not only through reading the inspired writings of the ancients apostles and disciples, but also through the writings and direction of modern Prophets and Apostles. This is why the truth about who Joseph Smith was and what he was called by God to do are so important to all mankind and why I, and my son and millions of other missionaries from our church spend their time and personal financial resources to tell the world about.

How I live my faith

My faith requires of me a high level of commitment. That commitment is more than just a belief, it is a way of life that keeps me engaged daily in the pursuit of "a more excellent way". That way or path has been proven to me to be the answer to peace, happiness and joy. I am not perfect. I am far from it. But.... I know that my involvement with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps me to become a better person, and a better disciple of Jesus Christ. Most people would agree that life is difficult. Life has many disappointments. Life also has many illusions and distractions which provide momentary pleasures that ultimately leave you feeling very empty. That is why active involvement with others of my faith in this shared pursuit is so important to me and my family. I look at my children and say...God is good. The Word of God is so good. When God is included in the process of raising children. the outcome is so much more than I could ever have done on my own. Most of my wife's family have chosen to try and make it through life without practicing this kind of faith. I look at their struggles and how much more difficult life is for them and how much more hurt, sadness and regret exists in their lives; How much confusion and lack of purpose or direction exists. How the chasing of those illusions has left so many of them with nothing but heartache. I feel blessed to be able to know and experience "a more excellent way".
