Hi I'm Lara

I'm a nurse, I'm an avid horse lover, I'm a country girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in WA. I was raised on a small farm and loved it! I love to ride horses, hike, swim, run, and do just about anything outdoors. I play the piano, I occasionally get crafty and make things, I love good books, and I love to learn. I finished my 4 year degree in nursing and I am now practicing in a field that I love! I have a dream of starting a family, enjoying a country life, increasing my education, and helping other people.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the opportunity to learn about the church when I was young. As a kid I went to church on Sundays with my family, where I was able to learn some of the basic doctrine. During that time I had many good experiences where I felt the Lord's love for me and I knew I was part of something good, but I didn't gain the surety that I now have of the truth until I became an adult. When I first started college I knew it was time to decide what kind of person I wanted to be and how I was going to follow the Lord's commandments. I had made some bad decisions and I wanted to make sure that I knew where I stood so that I could avoid doing that in the future. I had learned that Jesus Christ gave His life for us so that we can repent and be clean of our mistakes and shortcomings. I had heard that God forgives His children if we sincerely seek Him, but it was hard for me to believe that He could help and forgive me individually. I decided to prayerfully put my faith in Him and strive to live as He commanded. I began studying the scriptures more diligently and seeking to know Him and find answers to some important questions. As I have done so I have come to understand the plan that our Heavenly Father has for our happiness. I know He created a way that each of us can find joy in our journey and one day return to live in His presence. He gave us families to help us and that He intends those families to be together forever. He has given us a path to follow so that we can find our way. This path is the gospel of Jesus Christ. When Christ was on the earth He established His church and taught us the way that we need to go. In these latter days He has again established His true Church through a prophet of God. I know this is true because I have sincerely prayed and asked Heavenly Father. I know He listens and answers. I am a Mormon because this is what gives me strength and helps me be truly happy in this life and because I know that as I follow Christ I can have eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by making it a daily priority to develop my relationship with God. I pray and study scriptures daily. I ask for guidance when I make big decisions. I try to follow Christ's example by being helpful and kind to those around me, being involved in positive activities and pursuits, and avoiding some of the damaging influences of the world we live in. On Sundays I attend church with other members and visitors to learn and strengthen my resolve to live the gospel. I go to remember the Savior and what He has done for me, and as I do so I recommit myself to follow Him. I have had the opportunity to serve in the church by preparing and sharing talks, lessons, activities, etc. I also had the wonderful opportunity to serve as a full-time missionary in Uruguay for 18 months from mid 2009 through 2010. During that time I was able to share my beliefs and invite others to know more about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I learned to love so many people saw peace and joy enter into so many hearts. Though my time spent serving as a missionary was often challenging, it was honest the best time of my life. Everyday life can be very difficult at times. I can't even list the number of ways that we can be tried and tested, become discouraged, and feel like we're going to lose hope. I am not exempt from life's challenges, but I am so grateful that I have my faith to help me get through. I know that the Lord is standing by to help and guide me, even when I can't always see Him there. I know that He listens to my prayers and wants me to be happy. I know that this life is not all there is, but rather is a time for me to prepare to return to my heavenly home. I can go through my challenges with confidence because I know that God has a plan and that He loves me individually. I have felt His comfort and assurance when I needed it most and I am sure that He knows me. He is merciful and is always reaching out to us and I know that it is up to me to put my trust in Him.
