Hi I'm Katelyn

I am an 18 year old heading off to college this summer, i am a musician, a friend, and I am a mormon.

About Me

I am 18 and heading off for my first year of college this summer. I will not be attending any of the BYU schools like most think all LDS members do. I work at a Children's Hospital where i live and i love it! I love working with and being surrounded with kids. I love music and being silly, hanging out with my friends and going running. I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and i couldn't imagine my life any differently or what it would be like without it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up being LDS and at first i went to activities and church because it was routine and my parents told me to. I got baptized when i was eight years old, it seems like an eight year old wouldn't be able to know for them selves, the Lord works in mysterious ways. l knew without a doubt that it was true, i cant describe the feelings i felt that day, but that they were of warmth and love from my heavenly father. Years later my faith has been tested and i found it harder to do things without the Lord by my side. This past year i was diagnosed with an eating disorder and i had been so torn apart because i was worried of ruining people's expectations of me being the "perfect little mormon girl." Part of it was a pride issue too, i was embarrassed to ask for help or tell anyone, i didn't see a problem, and i got angry when my mom had found out and i was starting to get other health issues because of the disorder i was diagnosed with, and she had to force me to go to doctors and seek out help. I can honestly say that the friends i have had and the family i was given to live with on earth were given to me specifically by my Heavenly Father. Im still not the perfect mormon girl, sometimes i forget my prayers or to read my scriptures but its constantly trying that matters, not perfection. I have a testimony of the Christ's Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and i am a proud faithful member. High School is hard by itself, ive learned that a couple times, but ive also found that if you lean on the lord and ask for help it becomes not easy but manageable and worth it. I know this is the Lords true church and wants to share it with all his children, He knows and loves each and every one of us individually, He knows our worries concerns and our strengths and weaknesses, i know that i am a child of God, that Thomas S. Monson has been called of God. I have a testimony of music, that it can bring the spirit quickly and take it away just as fast.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a faithful member of Gods church. I live by what the prophets teach and testify of and follow their examples as well as trying to set examples based on their teachings, for others to follow. All of the guidelines are given for only our good. This gospel has helped strengthen my relationship with my Father in Heaven and has helped me when i am struggling. There are great blessings that come from this gospel, it helps and lifts others.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was and is not someone we worship in our church. He was a prophet just like moses who was called of God. Joseph Smith was called to bring the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ back onto the earth. He had the priesthood just like our men do today who through God can bring about many miraculous things. We worship our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ and are grateful for the work Joseph Smith did in order to bring about the church. Show more Show less
