Hi I'm Tara

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 4 and I work full time. I love helping others and getting involved with my children's activities. I love music, both singing and listening to all kinds. I have developed a love for canning fruit and jam through a friend teaching a lesson. I never knew how easy it really is! I love taking vacations with my family. We love going to San Diego, northern New York and Virginia. We have family back east that we miss and visit every chance we get. Our lives are very busy with school, performances, upcoming graduation, and the last one starting school.

Why I am a Mormon

My brother asked after we moved to Arizona if it would be ok to send the missionaries to visit us. We felt after receiving all the discussions and praying as well as reading The Book of Mormon that this was the religion that we were meant to be a part of. We had many discussions with the fulltime missionaries in formal settings during the discussion as well as informal meeting times. It was amazing to us how dedicated those young men had to be to take two years of their lives to devote to teaching and sharing the gospel. It was their consistent teaching as well as discussions with my brother and sister in law that helped us understand the church. There was a connection with our first ward that we have never lost, we developed a great friendship there with the fulltime missionaries as well as the ward missionary that we still have to this day. The entire ward was welcoming. Once we decided to be baptized, we were able to ask those special to us if they would perform the baptism. Since the only one in my family that was a member was my brother and his family, it was very important to me that he be the one to baptize me. The experience was a very special one and being able to share it with him and my extended family was wonderful.

How I live my faith

There are so many ways that I have been involved in the church from teaching the smallest of our youth in nursery, to moving up to the elementary age children to teaching the women's lesson and also leading the music. All have been rewarding times serving each age group. Teaching the children, with such a short attention span, was a challenge, but very fun. Each week, being able to come up with something to keep their attention for the lesson time, we worked together doing that. And of course, having them be able to remember something from the previous week's lesson warmed my heart in knowing that I was able to make an impression. As my most favorite thing is music having a responsibility to lead the music in more than one area of Sunday worship is most rewarding for me. I also have a chance to serve women by taking the time to set appointments and visit monthly. This provides the opportunity to talk with other women and find their needs and assist where we can. With everything that we are all busy doing and involved in, taking a few moments to just sit and chat and share a message gives each of us a short break and time for ourselves.
