Hi I'm Meg

I am a wife and mother. I am a cancer survivor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother. My husband and I have been married for over ten years. We have two daughters and one son. I love to be in the outdoors. I enjoy recreational shooting, off-roading, camping and rappelling. I was an athelete in high school and played recreational sports in college until I got sick and had to take a medical withdrawal from the university I attended. Since then, I have been very interested in medicine. I love emergency medicine and am a Nationally Certified EMT. I currently have the greatest job in the world working in the health office at my daughters' school. While struggling with many medical conditions, I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in early 2011. I have survived surgery and Radioactive Iodine treatments. This has been the hardest thing I have ever had to go through. I have a very supportive family who have helped me through it all.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I like how I feel when I follow God's commandments. Through covenants and promises I have made throughout my life, I have seen God's love for me and felt His blessings in my life. I was baptized when I was 8 years old. My parents were married in the temple. I was married in the temple for time and all eternity. To me, being a Mormon is about family. I believe my family can be together forever if I am faithful to the promises I have made. Being a Mormon makes my life easier because I have guidelines to live by. Most importantly, I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it is true. I have received answers every time I ask telling me it's true. These answers come as a peaceful feeling and a calming assurance.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being actively involved in my community. I serve on the board of directors for my Home Owners Association. I try to get my neighbors involved in community improvemet projects and other volunteer activities. I believe that I can have a great influence on the youth I am in contact with. I have coached little league teams and elementary school basketball teams. I have taught very young children and teenagers in church. I am serving as the young women's sports director now. I have had callings to serve the women in our church as well as the young women. I have had the opportunity to go into the church nurseries for the 18-36 month old children and sing with them week after week. I have had many opportunities to sing and perform, cook and organize activities over the years. I try to live my faith and set an example to my children. My parents have been amazing examples to me and I try everyday to follow in their footsteps. We read scriptures and pray together as a family. We spend time together playing games and discussing gospel topics. My husband and I go on dates together to strengthen our relationship. We do our best to be a happy family.
