Hi I'm Tonya

I live in a house with all boys, I love to laugh, I love the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of three very active boys. Ever since I was a young girl I dreamed of one day having my own children. I was so excited to be a mom! I would often imagine what it would be like to have sweet little girls to dress up cute, do their hair in braids and curls and lay on their beds and have long talks at the end of the day. I imagined motherhood to be chuck-full of bliss......and then I became a mom, (did I mention 3 boys) and man was I surprised! Do I love being a mom? Absolutely! Do I love having boys? Absolutely! I just quickly realized it was a heck of a lot more work than I'd imagined, I had a much greater appreciation for my own mother. The bliss does show up now and again, it's usually mixed somewhere in the middle of running kids to school, tennis, basketball, lacrosse, guitar lessons, scouts, wrestle-mania around the house, homework projects, spelling tests, building forts with blankets, book reports, and family home evenings. I no longer find myself dreaming of braiding and curling hair (in fact it's a blessing I don't have to worry about doing hair), and I count myself lucky if I have the energy and patience at the end of a long day for having a chat in bed with my kids! I am just grateful to the Lord for letting me enjoy the ride! Besides motherhood, I love doing just about anything in the great outdoors!

Why I am a Mormon

I mentioned my family and how busy our lives can be, yet there is not a day that goes by that I do not get on my knees and thank my Heavenly Father for my sweet husband, my fun little boys and my faith. I cannot imagine trying to raise my children in such a confusing world and having a happy marriage without having the gospel in my life. I have found so much peace and joy by living the teachings of my faith. I'm not sure there is much more that a person could wish for than peace and joy. I believe prayer is one of the greatest gifts our Heavenly Father has given us. I am grateful for the marvelous power it brings in my life. I know my Father in Heaven loves me and when I communicate with Him, I feel like there are times He is holding my hand and guiding me through my life. After becoming a mom and feeling the strongest love for my own children, it helped me to understand a small fraction of what my Father in Heaven feels for me and every one of his children. I know He loves each of us, I know He wants us to be happy.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite quotes is, “Live your life so those who don’t know Him, but know you, will want to know Him, because they know you.” When I read in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon about the life of Jesus Christ it makes me want to be a better person; a better wife, a better mom, a better friend, a better sister, a better neighbor. Christ spent His life serving others, I find so much happiness when I try to pattern my life in his footsteps. I have such a long way to go but it feels good trying! My family is very involved in our congregation, we feel like our church is our second family. We have lived different places throughout the U.S. and wherever we go we feel like we have an instant support system. We are there for one another, if someone has a new baby or a surgery, almost instantly schedules are made to bring in dinner, help watch kids or go visit in the hospital. We are a church of service, my kids have learned service at such a young age because they are surrounded by it....whether it has been through giving or receiving. We watch out for one another. I have sweet women who check-in on me every month to make sure me and my family are doing well. They come in my home and share an uplifting thought; we visit, we laugh, we compare stories and get to know each other better. I love these women and know if I ever needed them, they'd be there in a flash! In return I have women I check-in on monthly, so it turns out that we are all looking out for one another!
