Hi I'm Pete

I'm a Mormon. I am a father, grandfather, educator, and retired Air Force officer.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for 34 years. We have 2 married daughters who have blessed us with 5 grandkids. My absolute favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. After serving 22 fulfilling years as an Air Force officer, the Lord led us to Texas where I was a high school teacher and coach for 10 years before becoming a middle school assistant principal. I find great joy in helping my students achieve success in all aspects of their school experience. I enjoy traveling and have lived in states from coast to coast and overseas in Italy, Germany, and Japan. Whenever possible, I like to be outside walking with my wife and Great Dane dog, pistol and rifle shooting at a local range (this is a new hobby for us), kayaking on the local river, working with horses, or just doing "stuff" around the house. While I'm definitely not a handy man, I do what I can to make improvements on our home.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon simply because I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true! I know that God lives and that Jesus is the Christ. He is my personal Savior. Just as the Priesthood of God existed during the time of the Old and New Testaments, it exists today. After all, God is the same - yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I know that by faithfully following God's commandments and guidance that my family can be together for all time and eternity. This is extremely important to me because my family is THE most important thing in my life. Living the gospel helps me be a happy person who enjoys family, friends, and life in general. It provides me with a perspective that helps me to keep my priorities straight. I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints a month before my first daughter was born. I was being taught by the missionaries when the Spirit testified to me that what they were telling me was true.

How I live my faith

I am comforted by the knowledge that my Father In Heaven knows me personally. Through a series of "coincidences," I met my wife and we were married 7 weeks later. God's hand was evident as he guided me in the service of my country. There was a particular military career, personal, family, and church reason for each and every one of my Air Force assignments. My callings to serve in the Church have also had the same effects. By serving in different capacities, I have had the opportunity to grow as I have been placed in positions to help others. For example, years ago, I was called to serve in the Young Men's organization. One evening a group of boys asked me to coach their basketball team. Despite having zero experience coaching basketball, I agreed and the boys got to participate in the local church league. Little did I know that 14 years later this first experience coaching basketball would help in me becoming a high school teacher and freshmen girls basketball coach! I currently work in a leadership position with the older men in my congregation. We work together to strengthen ourselves, our families, and to assist the elderly and the single ladies in our congregation.
