Hi I'm Ashlyn

I am a full-time missionary, a daughter, a sister, an athlete, a coach, a friend, a student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a full-time mission in the Canada, Vancouver mission. I love being able to spread the Gospel to all of God's children! I am the second youngest of 5 siblings, and 12 step-siblings. I love playing all sports, especially basketball and football. I am currently a junior in college studying English Literature, and hope to one day become an English teacher for high school students. I enjoy reading and writing, and have recently published my own short novel. I play the guitar, piano, bass, and I love to sing. Taylor Swift is my favorite artist! I am a huge Phoenix Suns fan, as well as an LA Lakers fan. I enjoy going out with friends and having a good time, however I also enjoy spending time at home with my amazing family and neighbors.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed enough to be born and raised in the Church, however I am still continuing to strengthen my own testimony. Now that I am older, I strive to gain my own testimony of Jesus Christ's principles so that I may strengthen others through it. After studying the scriptures, and seeking answers from my Father in Heaven through prayer, I now know for myself that this is His church on the earth today. I also know through reading and prayer that The Book of Mormon is a true book, and that Joseph Smith translated it with the help of the Lord. I know that Jesus Christ atoned not only for our sins, but for our sufferings and trials as well. I have gained a greater testimony of this through the experiences I have gone through in my life. After everything that Christ has done for me, I cannot imagine veering from the strait and narrow path of righteousness. I know that by being baptized and confirmed a member of His church, and by living the Gospel principles to the greatest of my ability, I will be able to live with my Father in Heaven once again. Knowing that I am His daughter, and that he loves and knows me by name, gives me such meaning and understanding in my own life. Life can get difficult at times, but through the strength of the Lord I am able to overcome all things I am faced with. He will never tempt me above that which i am able to withstand. Being a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only way to eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

One thing I try to do is to be perfect in the commandments I can be perfect in. I know I will fall short of perfection in this life, however I can achieve it to a degree through perfect church attendance, scripture study, daily prayer, and paying my tithing. By doing these things, I am able to prepare myself for greater challenges that lie ahead. I have been teaching the 9 and 10 year old class in primary for almost two years now. It is one of the greatest experiences I have had in my life thus far. Knowing that the Lord trusts me enough to teach these children, and prepare them for their future in this Gospel, gives me such comfort. I try my best to teach them in a way that they will be edified, even if they are very young. Through their innocence and their examples, I am taught more about the church than I could ever teach them. I know that the Lord gave me this calling for a reason. I strive to attend the Temple on a weekly basis, even if I just walk on the grounds. I feel as though it is the best place to feel the promptings of the Holy Ghost, and I am able to receive clear answers when I attend regularly. My main focus in this Gospel is missionary work. I know how happy this Gospel makes me, and I want nothing more than to help others feel that same happiness. I thoroughly enjoy serving the people here in Canada, and helping them find greater peace in this life and in the life to come.
