Hi I'm Jeff
I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
I was born in Alaska and have lived here most of my life. I grew up camping, fishing and hiking all over "the Great Land" I have floated the Yukon river and climbed many peaks in the Chugach, Brooks and other mountain ranges. I graduated from high school, then shortly thereafter, spent two years as a missionary in Brazil. My wife, who was also born and raised here in Alaska, and I have been married for over twenty years, and we have four boys. I completed a bachelor's degree in biology, and within six months was studying medicine at the University of Washington. I am a physician and have been in practice for some time, I enjoy working with youth and have been a Boy Scout leader for years. In fact, a majority of the high adventure activities have been with my sons and the scout troop we are members of. I absolutely love to cook: Mediterranean, East Indian, French Provical, you name it, I like to cook it, for me it's just relaxing, plus you get to eat when your done!
Why I am a Mormon
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or a "Mormon" because I believe in Jesus Christ. I believe that he is my Saviour and that by living my life the way he wants me to, helps me to be a kinder, more understanding person. I believe that each and everyone of us belong to the whole human family, and that a real and loving Heavenly Father wants all of us to be happy. Everyone that knows me, knows that I am a "Mormon", or they don't know me well. It does't define who or what I am, but it is in every single part of me.
How I live my faith
As a memeber of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I try to live my life each day, so that everyone that I associate with: family members, friends, co-workers or complete strangers, know that I care for them. I really do look to Jesus Crhist as my examplar. Many years ago, I set goals to improve myself spiritually, mentally and physically and wrote them in a journal. Each day, before I go to bed I review my day and record how I' m doing; some days are much better than others! I believe that a loving Heavenly Father, helps me to grow and learn. I read and study the scriptures everday, including the Book of Mormon, from which this very website references. Everynight with my family, we read scriptures and say family prayer. My wife and I know that this helps us to be closer with our four boys, just taking time out of a hectic scheule each night, is a great way to strengthen our family.
