Hi I'm Tarra
I am in nursing school pursing a second career and I'm a Mormon.
I grew up on a farm in southern Idaho and while I love living in the city now, I'll always be a country girl at heart. I am currently in an accelerated bachelor of nursing program pursuing a second career. School pretty much consumes my life right now, but when I do find free time, I enjoy spending it with my family or my friends. I like to be outside enjoying the sunshine whenever I can. I also love reading and trying new recipes. I think it is important to be involved in the community, so I volunteer as a mentor for Denver Kids, Inc. and I sit on the board of directors for a 5K fun run that takes place in my hometown community every Thanksgiving.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised as a Mormon, but I choose to continue practicing my religion because I know I am the happiest and most content with my life when I am living my faith. I believe that I have a loving Heavenly Father who cares about me personally and has provided a way for me to return to live with Him. I believe that Jesus Christ is the center of that plan and that He loves me so much that He suffered for my sins and gave His life that I might have that chance. I believe that the scriptures teach about Jesus Christ and how we can be like Him by loving and serving those around us. I believe that living prophets are on the earth today to help continue guiding us as we seek to know Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I want to follow Jesus Christ and the things I have been taught as a Mormon make me feel closer to Him. There are many opportunities to serve others as a Mormon and I love how that service brings people together. It makes me feel like I am a part of something big and powerful and it makes me feel loved and needed.
How I live my faith
I try to live my faith every day by being kind to people around me and finding little opportunities each day to serve others or make someone's day brighter in some way. I think about how Jesus would treat people and I try to follow that example. I also live my faith by attending church every week and participating actively in service opportunities in the church. One of my favorite ways to serve is with the youth. They are inspiring and gifted and it is exciting to see them grow up into strong, confident adults. Currently I teach a lesson once a month to the women in my congregation. I love teaching them because as I prepare my lessons, I feel guided and inspired by the Holy Spirit and it confirms to me that God is aware of these women and that He has special things for them to learn. I love what I learn as I prepare to teach!
