Hi I'm Charissa.

I'm a graduate from Purdue University. I'm a Certified Child Life Specialist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a Siamese cat named Tsuki. About a year ago I thought, "I'm bored-- what can get you unbored faster than an evil cat?! And what cat is more evil than a Siamese?!" Turns out Tsuki is the most kind and loving cat on the face of the earth. Who knew?! Of course, when my entire theory is based off of Disney's "Lady and the Tramp", perhaps I shouldn't be so shocked :-). But she's great, even if she's not conniving :-). I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Services and I'm a Certified Child Life Specialist. Look it up-- best job in the entire world! I am currently working in Early Intervention (kids 0-3 with developmental delays). I'm a vegetarian. When I was four, I was helping my mom cook chicken for dinner and I asked her what it was and she told me and I just haven't eaten it since. It doesn't bother me when other people do, though-- to each his own! I like to spend time with my friends and family. I like learning anything about the Japanese culture. It fascinates me! I really want to take a pottery class.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because, well #1 I was born into this church. But I consider that a blessing. I've never once felt like there were answers I didn't have that I didn't know where to turn to to get them. I love that the Savior has given us the Holy Ghost to teach us life lessons and gospel principles. I'm a member because I understand the doctrine; I've felt the Holy Ghost confirm to me that it's true, and that living the way of righteousness is the way to make yourself into something better. In the Bible John states something along the lines of "In the beginning, there was the word. And the word was the LIFE. And the LIFE was the light of men." It won't just make you happy one day after you die-- it makes you happy right now.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as the Ward Employment Specialist and a member of the Missionary Committee. I took a "How to Get a Job" class at the university I went to, and I actually really enjoy working on resumes and fake interviewing! I don't enjoy the real interviewing process as much :-).
