Hi I'm John

I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. I was introduced to the gospel of Jesus Christ when I was 13 years old. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of 4 girls and 1 boy, one who is waiting for me in Heaven. I run 2 businesses that provide services to the community. I am very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. My favorite things to do are serving my neighbors and spending time with my family. I really love to watch sports of all kinds and have enjoyed being a coach to my children when they were younger.

Why I am a Mormon

I began learning about the church off and on when I was very young, but didn't attend very frequently until I was 13 years old. I was invited to join a scout troop, from there I was invited to attend church with those same friends. My life went one way while the lives of some of my friends went another. Many years later I can look back at how that one choice has made a tremendous difference in my life. I'm grateful to know that I have a Father in Heaven. I'm grateful that He has comforted me during some difficult moments in my life. I'm thankful to know my Savior Jesus Christ. I know that He is loving, kind, and full of charity for me and if for me then for all of God's children. I know that the teachings I receive daily from the scriptures and weekly from attending church, etc are helping me to be a better man than I could be on my own. God has worked some small miracles through me and I'm grateful to be His servant. I would invite anyone to see for themselves what the teachings of this church can do for them. From the time I first met with the missionaries everything that I've heard and learned has rang true to me. I have had a rich life full of joy and happiness that I'm sure otherwise would not be the case for me.

How I live my faith

In my church I have had the priviledge of working with the youth in one way or another since I was married almost 20 years ago. I had a wonderful example in my scout master. I've tried over the years to impart some of the same lessons that I learned on to young men with the hopes that they will do the same. Things like "leave the campsite better than the way you found it". We go on campouts almost every month, and usually take a week long trip in the summer. These campouts provide great opportunities for hands on learning about life. I have helped in administering an entire congregation and have felt the Lord's Spirit guide me to seek out the needy or help place someone in a position where they could serve others. Moments like feeling the need to call someone or drop by to see them and find out later how that was a great blessing in their life are special to me. I have an angel Mother that taught/teaches me about selflessness. I can never repay her for all the sacrifices she has made on my behalf. From that real life experience I try to relate what great sacrifice the Savior made for me and I realize that I can never repay Him. This is a motivating factor for why I choose to serve others. It has been explained to me that we can never pay our debt to God because everytime we do something good He blesses us and so we are more indebted to Him. I know this is true. I feel that I have received so much more than I could ever possibly give to Him by giving to His children around me.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Anyone that knows me knows that Mormons help out anyone in need that they can. I've enjoyed so much the opportunity to serve my neighbors, people on the street, senior citizens, family, and friends. Serving others is what brings me the most joy in life. Show more Show less
