Hi I'm Diane

I grew up in California. I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently caring for my twin grandchildren Hendrix and Star during the day while my daughter works. In my spare time I have been learning ASL. I have 4 children and 9 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a part of the Mormon church has helped me in all aspects of my life. Whether you are married or not, there is so much the church has to offer. Attending church meetings gives me the spiritual uplift that I need to make it through each week. Life is always changing and we never know what obstacles we will face from day to day. Knowing that I have a loving Heavenly Father who watches over me gives me the courage to face whatever comes my way. He knows my strengths and weaknesses, and if I live worthily, I know that He will give me the blessings that I stand in need of. There is such comfort and peace in being a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day by reading the scriptures, having personal prayer, and trying to be Christlike with everyone that I come in contact with. It is especially important to be kind to family members. I attend my Sunday meetings and go to the temple often. I do a lot of genealogy research so I can do temple work for family members that have already passed away.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

At a young age, children in the church are taught that they can be missionaries to friends and/or family members. They don't have to wait until they are 19 years old to go abroad to teach the gospel. As a mother of 4 children, 2 of my children are active in the church, and 2 of my children are not active. Working together with the full time ward missionaries, I am always trying to think of ways to get my 2 children who are inactive, active again. Regardless of what our circumstances in life may be, we can all be missionaries to bring the gospel into the lives of those who don't have it. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Self-reliance is an important principle taught by the Mormon church for many reasons. If we are prepared for emergency situations, not only can we help ourselves and family members, but our neighbors and friends too. If you have a 1 year food supply stored, and you lose your job, you can still feed your family. Buying in bulk when a store is having a sale, allows you the flexibility of stocking up while being wise and thrifty with your money at the same time. Being prepared gives you the peace of mind that you have been obedient in following the counsel of a living prophet and done everything within your power to be prepared for whatever circumstances may arise.
