Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a father. I'm an engineer. I'm a lawyer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to solve problems, conquer challenges, and learn new things. I'm pretty easy going, full of energy and try to live up to the nick-name my Grandpa gave me many years ago: "Shawn-Shine". I have been working in engineering for more than 14 years. I am a father of five energetic kids. I also love playing soccer, running and anything else that keeps me moving. I enjoy all things in the outdoors, going mountain biking, picking wild berries, going on hikes with my kids, finding sea shells on the beach, observing wildlife and I even try a little bit of gardening on the side.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for multiple reasons. The foremost reason is because I want to follow Jesus Christ and I believe that being a faithful member in His church is one way I show that commitment. Another fundamental reason I am a member is because I want to be with my family forever. I am also a member because of the great example of my parents. They taught me well and gave me the tools and then let me find out for myself. I have read and pondered the scriptures and prayed with sincerity and real intent to know of their truthfulness and have received answers through the Holy Ghost that what I have read is true. Throughout my life there have been many different reasons why I have been grateful to be a member, but in the end it all comes down to faith. I know that this is Christ's true church and that I can return to live with God and His son by following the principles taught within His church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in everything that I do! I love to start each day with a smile. Work is work, and life is life, but I find that a smile can go a long what in whatever I am doing; it can take the mundane and make it enjoyable. Knowing were I came from, why I'm here, and where I'm going after this life is over has helped me keep that smile and I try to pass it on to everyone I come in contact with. I have found joy in serving others. By focusing on the needs of others, my cares and worries seem to melt from colossal ice-bergs to swallowable ice-cubes. In the past I've enjoyed volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and currently I am volunteering as a soccer coach at the local YMCA. On a daily basis I try to be the best I can be. Sometimes I am more successful than others. I hope that I can continue to improve and get better everyday.
