Hi I'm Loren

I grew up on the Mexican American border in Arizona, I major in journalism and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recently returned missionary from the Mexico Leon Mission, I graduated from Douglas High School in 2007 with many of my friends and I'm currently studying and majoring in journalism. I love writing and I love astronomy and physics and I also love to hike and be out and about and active.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because in my late junior early senior year in high school I had come to question my beliefs in God. My family has been part of the LDS church for many generations on my mothers side and only 2 generations on my fathers side. But I had come to the point in my life when I just didn't think God could be real. After more study and more research into religion both recent and ancient I had come to the conclusion that either the LDS church is true or everyone is wrong, but at that point I still wasn't willing to accept that it was true. Eventually I came to the point that I couldn't take it anymore, I had to know if the precepts my family followed were true or if I had been living a lie for 17 years. And the only way I knew how to find out if God was real, the only way that made sense, was to pray and ask Him myself. If I didn't receive an answer then I would know for sure. I remember the night very well, I was very distraught over the battle that was going on in my soul and I just sought for peace. I remember kneeling that night at the foot of my bed and asking the most important question of my life; I asked God if He was there. Almost as soon as I had asked I received my answer, God was there and He was listening. I also took the opportunity to ask Him if what I believe as a Mormon is true, if the prophet Joseph Smith had truly seen Him and His Son and if the Book of Mormon truly was inspired scripture. The answers I received are the strongest I have ever received in my entire life through a pray. What I felt that night cannot be fully described in a way for mortal emotions to understand, but through what I felt that night I know that God is real and that he loves us and I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Christ upon the earth today. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The first thing that began my adult life as a member of the LDS church was my 2 year mission to Leon Mexico. Having recently returned I have since been called to be a seminary teacher to the youth of my hometown and also as the secretary to the Elders Quorum of my home town. I work everyday to read scriptures and pray in the morning and pray throughout the day and at night in order to always have the guidance of the Lord in all I do. I pay tithing regularly as it teaches in Malachi 3:10, I do not drink or smoke or take part in any pre marital sexual relations. I strive to go to the temple, the sacred house of the Lord, monthly to partake in the sacred ordinances held within. All in all I just strive to follow the precepts of what I believe based on my concious and faith in God.
