Hi I'm Robby

I'm a husband. I'm a sports fanatic. I love the oilfield and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Robby I love to play any kind of sport but baseball is always my favorite. I used to be a roughneck in the oilfield drilling for oil and natural gas. I have been laid off from that job and got a job offer working for a company that pays for my school. So now I'm a College student studying to be a petroleum engineer. I love to tinker with things and fix stuff. I absolutely love working on cars and one day I'm going to have that old muscle car sitting in my garage for me and my future son to tinker on. Hunting is another hobby of mine although I'll admit I haven't gone since I moved from Louisiana here to Colorado. I just enjoy life and whatever it has to throw at me. Its all a learning process and we get knocked down but you have to get back up and keep plugging along.

Why I am a Mormon

It all started with meeting my wife who was already a member. When we were dating I flew out to colorado from louisiana to visit her. My wife and I (girlfriend at the time) were getting ready to leave somewhere and the missionaries were over to teach her brother the first lesson to help him out with his upcoming mission. they offered to have me take the lesson as well and I said, "Sure, why not." I took the first lesson and enjoyed it. That led to the next and the next. The missionaries had asked me to pray about what they were teaching me and I said that I would, but I kept putting it off. Well they asked me again and I said I haven't prayed yet but that I would tonight. That night I got on my knees and began to pray and ask heavenly father if what I was doing was right, are they telling me the truth? Instantly I had a peace and a comfort about me. I felt as though I was floating like someone was holding me in their arms like a mother would comfort her child. I knew without a doubt that this church was the right church to go to. I had never felt such a peace before. Soon after I became babtized and I have been a member ever since.

How I live my faith

I have two calling in my ward, I'm a Weeblo cub scout leader and I am a sunday school teacher as well. I do my best everyday to juggle family time with church callings, school, and scripture study. I love to read the scriptures because they are so powerful and you will always seem to find something in them to help you out with your daily struggles. I love reading scriptures with my wife. It brings us so close, closer than any other activity we have ever done. Family home evening is fun as well. Every Monday we take a little time to talk about the gospel then we usually go eat somewhere or go do a fun activity as a family such as bowling or putt putt or even just play a board game. I love it because we put aside all our daily activities to be together as a family and not get distracted by everything else. I'm far from perfect but I strive everyday to try and be more like Christ. He is the perfect role model and I know I will never be fully like him but by me trying to emulate Christ makes me a role model for others and gives me a sense of peace and comfort in my life.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The holy bible is regarded as scripture and the word of god. A lot of our teaching and beliefs can be found in the Holy Bible. We use the holy bible to teach and testify of christ and what he did for us as well as the book of mormon which is another testament testafying of christ to the world. Show more Show less
