Hi I'm Abby

I'm in College, I'm a Musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 18 years old and just enjoying life as it comes. I just started my freshman year at Brigham Young University. Right now I am planning on majoring in engineering but who knows where I will end up? I recently received a mission call to serve in Argentina for the LDS church. I will be teaching my faith (in Spanish!) to those that wish to hear it in Argentina and I am thrilled about it! Besides that... I enjoy playing and performing on the violin, but don't like to practice . . . who does? When I am not busy with homework (which is most of the time) I like to hang out with my friends or spend time with my family, which consists of my parents and my four little sisters. My favorite thing to do in my free time though is read.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in to an LDS family and for that I am so grateful. I believe with all my heart everything our church teaches. I have continued to live this gospel because it gives a sense of peace and understading hard to come by in this world. I know that the Savior loves me and atoned for our sins my suffering in Gethsemane and dying on the cross. I know that he wants us to follow his commandments and come to live with him again. I know that through obedience to his laws I can live with my family forever and that I am a child of God.

How I live my faith

I enjoy participating in church activities. I am currently attending a ward for young single adults, I enjoy serving in my ward as a music coordinator. I help the leaders in assigning musical numbers and selecting hymns to sing in church. I love serving in this way because I love music and helping others to feel closer to the Savior Jesus Christ through music brings me joy. Soon I will become a full time missionary for my church. I will live in Argentina for 18 months preaching the Gospel of Christ. Even though this will be a sacrifice for me, I am giving up family and schooling and friends, I am more excited than I can say!

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

We believe that God has given us everything. He created the world and us. So to thank Him we give him a mere ten percent of what we earn to help His church. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes! I believe there really is a man chosen by God to lead the church. We need him because in a world where we are constantly surrounded by turmoil, he can lead and guide us through our lives and help us find peace in this world. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

We live just like everyone else! We have families and jobs and attend school and church. We strive to find peace and happiness and to follow God's commandments. Show more Show less
