Hi I'm Maurine

I worked as a Mental Health - Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been married to the same great guy for 58 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife, mom of four, grandmother of sixteen, great-grandmother of nine. I was out of school for 25 years then went back, finished my bachelor's, got my master's, wrote my thesis, did my internships and began private practice at age 48. My hobbies are creative writing - especially writing scripts and putting on plays and reader's theaters.

Why I am a Mormon

I first became a member of the church because I am from a 7th generation pioneer family and being baptised at 8 is just what I did. When I started dating a non-member boy who had no religious background and many questions I had to start explaining why I belonged to this church, and found out so many things I had just taken for granted and had to learn for myself for the first time what I really believed. Later I had the job of teaching the teenagers in an early morning religion class which met every day at 6 a.m. and was very intense and basic doctrine and this was an excellent experience for clarifying my knowledge. My strongest testimony is that the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father both know each person completely and individually and know what is best and necessary for that person's growth in the Gospel and in their lives. This has been shown to me so many times I could never deny it, and is such a comfort to know they are always there.

How I live my faith

My most important way of showing my faith is in how I treat other people. If I understand that they are a precious Child of God then I will try to treat them as such. My activity in the church has been life-long and has included serving with each age group and many different responsibilities. I enjoy teaching gospel lessons and watching the people get an "ah ha" moment when something is understood or makes sense to them. I have been very blessed to have many opportunities to organize and present stage productions and large-scale activities where the members can develop their talents and have a chance to perform in a place that is safe and "clean" and uplifting.
