Hi I'm Shannon

I like to hike, play nerdy board games, cook, read books, and spend time with my family.

About Me

When I first met my husband, he would always tease me because I would describe everything as fascinating. And the truth is, I do find most things fascinating. There are so many things this world has to offer, and I enjoy learning about it. I have a wide variety of interests from backpacking to preserving my garden harvest, from traveling to sewing. But, my favorite thing of all, is spending time with my family. I have two little boys that keep me on my toes and bring joy into my life with their various antics. I have a wonderful husband who loves me, works hard to support our family, and is a great dad.

Why I am a Mormon

Quite simply, I'm a Mormon because I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. It is Christ's church that was restored to the earth by the prophet Joseph Smith and we have a living prophet today that receives revelation just as the prophets in the bible. I choose to live my religion, along with all it's "rules" because it brings me joy. Christ is the center of all things that are good, and when I follow the principles and doctrines that he teaches, it makes those "rules" disappear and become a pathway to happiness. I love the gospel, and I love the peace, strength, and foundation it has provided in my life.

How I live my faith

At church, I work with the young women, specifically ages 14-15. I love working with these girls and watching as their testimonies of the gospel grow and develop. I also get to coach them for our church's volleyball team. I was a freshman high school coach in the past, and I was saddened when I had to quit. But, coaching our church's v-ball team is a blast. It allows me to still be part of the game I love, work with the young women in developing their skills, and doesn't have the time requirement of school sports. I do my best to be an example to others around me. Although, many can testify that I fall way short of perfect, I do try to show love and concern for my family, neighbors, and friends. I enjoy serving and getting to know and serve others. I try everyday to be the the best I can be; some days are definitely better than others!
