Hi I'm Lars

I have lived in the Seattle area my whole life. I enjoy studying the great thinkers of the past. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy examining the way ideas have shaped the world we live in today. It is wonderful to discover how the past has influenced the present and how we can make decisions today that will effect us both in the here and now and chart a course for the future.

Why I am a Mormon

We live in a world and a time where we can intellectually deconstruct any concept or perspective that comes along. For example when the Delphi oracle stated that Socrates was the wisest man in the world, he began is search to find someone with more wisdom than he had, because he was acutely aware of his lack of knowledge. He ended up concluding that he indead might be the wisest man in the world, simply because he knew that he knew nothing. From this vantage point how does one get the point where they can sincerely say that they know that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us unconditionally, that Jesus Christ is our older brother who finds joy when we repent with a broken heart and a contrite spirit and are able to make full use of his atoning sacrifice? This testimony has come to me by the power of the Holy Ghost. To know that the restored Gospel is true takes more faith and courage and is much more contstructive than the ability to be sceptical. And the sense of peace I feel from the gift of the Holy Ghost even when I am faced with challenges and adversity is one of the greatest blessing in my life!

How I live my faith

I love going to church, studying the scriptures, praying to Heavenly Father. I love the oportunity I have to do service and fellowship with my brothers and sisters in my ward family. I love knowledge that I have that everyone here on earth is a spirit child of our Heavenly Father and that we are all here to prepare ourselves to return to live with him again.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

I continue to learn more about my Heavenly Father as I study the scriptures and pray with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, seeking to know His will. As I seek to follow His commandments, I continue to receive witnesses from the Holy Spirit that He is mindful of my and all his other children, who are my brothers and sisters here on earth today and through out time and eternity.
