Hi I'm Heather

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife, a mother of 3. I am a hairdresser at home which is great.....I feel like I get the best of both worlds. I can be at home but still be helping to bring in some money. I love to be with people! Nothing more interesting than people! I've found a new love in reading and in my free time I'm trying to become a bit of a blogger. I need to get better since it's a great way of keeping a journal and my family history updated.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church but from a very young age I have felt such a strong desire to follow the Mormon beliefs. I know there is a real power in being true to what you know and feel. I can't deny the influence the gospel has had in my life. I love the direction the church gives in keeping the commandments that God has given us. I feel like there are so many different influences out there and it can be really scary, especially as a parent to send your kids out into the "real world". I would be so lost as a parent trying to help my kids develop moral character and values. I have had small miracles in my life with the power of the Priesthood. The one that stands out most in my mind is the time I was pregnant with my daughter and was experiencing complications. I felt so alone and helpless and didn't know which direction to turn to. I asked my husband who was a worthy Priesthood holder to give me a blessing. The comfort and reassurance it gave me helped me get through the next difficult couple of weeks. I ended up having her 12 weeks early and had a hysterectomy. But that baby thrived only being 2 lbs 7 oz when she was born. She is now a very active 8 year old girl. I don't know how I could have made it through with so much comfort and confidence without the gospel in my life! I also LOVE the temple! What a marvelous place to be! I go there as often as I can. It is an amazing place where Heavenly Father's influence is felt. It is a place of refuge in such a troubling world. There is no reason to feel scared, when you know there is a prophet called of God to be HIS mouth piece and let us know how to get through this storm! I love this gospel! I really don't know where I"d be without it!

How I live my faith

I am one of the leaders over the women's organization in the church. It is an organization for only women! I love it! To belong to something that will help me to reach my full potential. I have learned crafts, ways of cooking, budgeting, and several other things that have helped me to be a better mom and wife. I am in charge of planning one of these activities once a month to help the sisters develop talents in home, organization, family, and any other area of interest or need of our ward. The organization of the church is wonderful. We are all "in charge" of 3 or 4 different sisters to check on at least once a month. We call it visiting teaching. We go to their homes once a month to check on them and see how they are, to befriend them and see if there is anything we can do to be of service. It's great because it's a way to reach out to each other, make friends and be there to help each other in times of need. I have made some really great friends being a visiting teacher.
